Activists protesting Israel's military action in the Gaza Strip converged on the Port of Oakland on Sunday afternoon in an effort to block the unloading of an Israeli cargo ship, the second such action in two days.

The activists formed pickets at several Port gates to prevent workers from unloading the Piraeus, a vessel from Zim Integrated Shipping Services, Israel's largest shipping firm. The ship docked at 5 p.m. at the port's Oakland International Container Terminal, and protesters communicating via Twitter said port employees were honoring their picket lines.

Passions run high on this issue. History always looks on these things as "Who started it?" In this case was it the Assyrians in 1500 BC who conquered the kingdoms of Judah and Israel? Should we go back further?

Or was it Jewish nationalists and the Zionist movement and their allies who took Palestinian land by force in 1948?

It's about time people started waking the fuck up and seeing that Israel is toxic and the US shouldn't be involved.

The sooner we cut ties to the middle east, the better, and that includes Israel.

Can we launch rockets into Oakland? I mean.. if they so strongly oppose stopping rockets from raining down on people's heads, surely they won't mind their own.

Perhaps what's going on in Gaza affects him personally.

Perhaps he's Palestinian (I have no idea if he is).

Perhaps he has relatives or friends in Gaza (or the West Bank).

Perhaps he simply doesn't give a damn about Iraqis.

Perhaps you have no clue as to this person's actions and/or motivations.

As long as the workers get their pay docked and loose their jobs for not doing it (although the union will not allow such), I have no issues.

Those that let the protesters into the port property also should be fined/fired for not doing their jobs.

And where were protesters when the rockets are raining down on Israel.
Technology prevents the intended deaths of multiple Israelis but nary a peep.

Where was Sand Eagle and cohorts when the rockets were firing on Israel and Israel not responding?

Unless these protesters successfully get the US to stop sending $3bn in aid a year to Israel,.. this has accomplished nothing.
