Legalize.
When prohibition ended, so did the violence that came with. Secondly, the abuse of alcohol did not increase following it's relegalization, despite the claims of prohibition proponents. Fact: There was no drug abuse problem prior to the criminalization of drugs. Criminalization of drugs did not decrease their use, in fact the use of drugs among all age groups has risen fairly steadily since they were made illegal. The war on some drugs has been used as an excuse to ignore many constitutional rights. Thanks to the WOSD's, the govt. can seize your property without even charging you with a crime. And you have to sue the govt. to get your property back (assuming the govt. has left you enough money to hire a lawyer.) The WOSD's has been used as an excuse to justify all manner of previously illegal searches and search methods.
<< Okay only loser do drugs. >>
Well I agree people who use heroin, crack, coke, meth, etc are. But I disagree about marijuana. I have a job, two certs, pay my bills etc. I lead a productive life and I smoke up. Who the hell are you to judge me? I am not addicted nor has it ruined my life in any way. Sure it kills some braincells... so does alcohol. The effects of it aren't as harsh as alcohol. Alcohol is much more toxic than marijuana, also kills more braincells.
<< Statistically speaking, the U.S. Department of Health reports that alcohol-related deaths total 100,000 annually from all causes, including traffic accidents, liver disease, related violence, falls, etc. They put marijuana and other illegal drug-related fatalities at under 10,000 a year. Tobacco, by the way, is responsible for 450,000 deaths a year, according to the same agency. >>
10,000 a year by all illegal drugs compared to the legal drug alcohol which kills 100,000 a year. The problems of marijuana are different. They're not as severe. You don't have the violent behavior; you don't have the sexual aggression; you don't have the poisoning.
Enough said.
