O/C heatsink for athlon 64 3500 winchester 90nm

Are there any decent heatsinks I can get for under $40 that will give me a decent overclocking boost? The XP-90 is way out of my range 🙁. Also, which fans are decent? Edit: It has to be better than the stock heatsink and fan. 😀
 
eh? Well I'll consider that, at newegg its $58.. a little much in my mind to spend on the heatsink. Thanks for pointing that out.
 
i dont really think a special heatsink is necessary to OC these winchesters highly... they run very cool even with the stock HS (mine is 30degrees at 1.6volts (.2 higher than default) with the heatsink that came in the box with cpu))
 
The problem is they don't sell a retail version of this CPU at newegg or lots of places. So, a "stock" heatsink is out of the question for now 🙁. I'd like a custom one anyways:

I am still a little wary on spending more than $40 but which out of the above is the best for under $40 and which is the best for over $40? I presume a higher price means a better heatsink, but sometimes cheaper can be better. Anybody have opinions or experiences on this? Thanks, you guys are a HUGE help.
 
I just purchased mine from Monarch - no complaints and it had the newer BIOS to be compatible with the winchester CPU's. I got the Zalman 7000B-CU - works great and it easy to install.
 
The best complete cooler for $40 is something from the 7000 AlCu series; original/A/B shouldn't make too much of a difference. Over $40, consider the Thermalright XP-90 and XP-120 and possibly the Zalman 7700, but remember that you have to buy your own fan for a Thermalright (Zalmans include one, though).
 
I believe if you do a little research the K8 silent boost is a very fine cooler for cheap. At monarch I think they sell a hsf for the K8 that is pretty much the stock cooler as an individual unti. Check into it....
 
go zalman, i have hear dmany people complain about the loudness of thermaltake's products, the 7000cu tho i think was just as good as the 7700 but dont quote me on that one....
 
The 7700 series is probably second only to the XP-120 in effectiveness with air cooling, so get that.
 
MOst of these high end heatsink and fans will not change the idle temps much...Where their effectiveness will be is in the swing between idle and load. Stock cooling on a moderately oc'd 3500+ may be near 18c, but with a high end hsf may be in the 12-14c range.
