said something about the Generals Series coming back, and that there working on a new Generals game
along the lines of RA, with a new game engine etc...
i can post the email.. is this old, new or what?

cool i didnt know of anything like this. lets hope this 'new game engine' can get some better frame rates than the previous one did.

well, anywho, since 6 out of 8 want it

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is enjoying one of the best years ever for PC gaming.

On the eve of one of our own major releases, The Lord of the Rings?, The Battle for Middle-earth?, the one thing we've grown to understand is how important the community - our most loyal supporters - is for industry. This started back in our days at Westwood where the community for our games has always been a big priority. We understand that you are the most important and influential group for us and we are constantly amazed at the amount of talent used to create quality assets and mods.

Having said that, we have a MAJOR announcement to make and we are making it exclusively to our long time C&C fans. This announcement is not going out to the press and it won't appear on the EA website or anywhere else online. We are very proud to announce that the team that brought you Command & Conquer? Red Alert 2?, Command & Conquer? Yuri's Revenge?, and Command & Conquer? Generals has officially started work on our next project set in the Red Alert universe!

As I mentioned, we're very proud to ship what we feel is one of the best RTS games ever released. Most of you have probably heard of The Lord of the Rings?, The Battle for Middle-earth? which hits stores this week. We've introduced some really innovative features and gameplay mechanics, which you should definitely check out when you get a chance. You will also see a major enhancement to the Sage graphics engine we originally created for Command & Conquer Generals. Expect us to leverage and continue to evolve this powerful engine as we start work on our new Command & Conquer game.

Thanks again for all your support over the years. This entire team is incredibly excited to work on the next Command & Conquer chapter. Look for an official announcement soon and have a wonderful holiday.

yeah 31 fps ( ikow it was real time) was a freaking joke

6800gt a64 1 gig and all the rest ..... still gets 31 fps jus the same as my naff xp2100 system and ti200
31fps wasnt so bad on a CRT...it looks sick on a TFT :s and the only way i could get 60 fps was to put game speed to max and play skirmish.....max game speed meant i got owned within seconds not enjoyable

My only complaint with the two new CnC Generals games was the terrible netcode that made it unplayable with more than 4 people, even on a lan!

It remeided me of when I used to play Red Alert on my Celeron 266. After about 5 minutes everything would turn to a crawl.

HAHA I had screenshots of 1 fps because of a serious gameplay flaw. We launched dozens of super weapons onto a single enemy base. Really it should have been restricted to just one super weapon, it's not fair if they have more than one(easy to do). It was fun but slow death for the enemy.

To be honest, CnC Generals was one of the best RTS I ever played. Aside from the one problem above, I enjoyed the game. I liked how every unit was unique to it's faction, down to the most basic units. Each faction had it's own strategies to play with, and it was completely balanced. I thought it was too easy even on hard, but Zero Hour made it a lot more challenging. I will no doubt purchase the new one. There has only been two EA games I have liked and continue to buy: CnC and NFSU.

yeah

to this day, i still play Zero Hour with friends online
we get up this huge battle, with the AI of course (friend hates loosing) and right at the pinical (sp) of the game
the game crashes, says theres is something wrong with our hardware...
we get pissed off at EA for not haveing good tech support
then we give up, play the game some more, till it crashes again

its a vicious cycle

Lol sounds like our lan parties...

Reenactment:

Me: "Yes, after an hour of intense battle we finally have the upper hand."
Friend: "Now its time to clean up."
EA: *ERROR* We're sorry, the game has lost synch. I will fix it by kicking everyone out. */ERROR*
Me: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Friend: ........
Me: .......
Friend: ..... "So.... another game?"

REPEAT

Rather see a new Total Annihilation TBH.

what the hell happened to that anyway? the devs camr up with an outstanding game that was HUGELY popular, then..? even the optimistic TA2 sites died in like year 2000.
