7% in the first 6 months... x 8 = so he'll be responsible for 56% after 4 years? haha.

Actually 7% was in the first month, so in six months it should be 7% x 6 right? Oh wait. Republifail.

I like to keep it simple.

The Democrats balanced the budget and gave us our first surplus in like forever, using a system called PAYGO.

The Repugnicans led by Bush absolutely agreed we had a surplus and the surplus was only going to get bigger, much bigger.

After just 8 years of Bush and the Repugnicans we saw the surplus turned into massive deficits and an almost complete collapse of the economy.

After about 5 months in office Obama has stabilized the economy and is pushing to re-enact the same plan, PAYGO, that gave us the surplus.

It's really quite simple when you don't have the Fox News Network or Rush Limbaugh turned on in the background when you are trying to think.

Thanks, but it's interesting how you call out the GOP for smoke and mirrors and make no mention of this in the same article:

The second is that Mr. Obama does not have a realistic plan for eliminating the deficit,

What would your plan be if in the middle of the night somebody dumped 15 metric tons of human waist on your lawn? Hmmm?

Isnt the NYT the paper that bowed at Obama and kissed his feet right after he was elected?

I mentioned those because I think the left complaining about Bush spending is rather disenguous given how many programs Bush enacted that are favorable to the left.
The question is why aren't you complaining about Bush spending? If you don't want big government, why didn't you ever have a problem with it?

Feel free to prove me wrong through the archives. But it's a safe bet your outrage about Obama's 10% cut of the deficit is right out of the Tea Party 2009 playbook.

I have been complaining about Bush's spending. Aren you paying attention? I didnt complain as much as I should have back in the day because I was a blind loyalist to the Republicans. I suggest you quickly dislodge your head from the asshole of the Democrat party and smell the fresh air as well. It truely is refreshing.

I guess the Democrats had no say in the country the past 8 years, eh?

When did the economy stabilize?

When did the economy stabilize?

lagging indicators like unemployment have pointed that we may have bottomed out our recession (the 300k job losses in May were the lowest since September and beat estimates of more than 500k job losses) and leading indicators like the stock market bouncing back have shown that we may be turning a corner, but there's no guarantee. The economy MAY have stabilized would be more accurate a statement. We won't know for a while.

Is there proof paygo give us the surplus, or was it because fo the republican controlled congress during Clinton year?

It was because Clinton borrowed money from ourselves.

Hmmmm.

Doesn't sound too sustainable to me...

It's more like buying a house with 15 metric tons of waist on the lawn from the previous owner.

Basically, whoever was to get elected President this cycle would have been criticized no matter what is done.

I don't think any real balanced budget will ever get through Congress until something really drastic comes along such as foreign countries calling in their debts. In the meantime all this political squabbling doesn't really mean anything.
