NYPD gets into fist fight with man resisting arrest

I use it to fix things, remove stuff from my skin, fabricate parts, open packaging... I don't know how anyone can not have a knife. Asking why a knife is useful is like asking why rope, fire, or wire is useful. It's one of the most basic and universal tools you can have.

I use mine all the time outside of work. That's also why I have to buy new knives often because I wear them out. I had to use it just 2 hours ago to take off the plastic security tab for a couple pairs of gloves I bought at Meijers. It's handy, it's quick and easy and fits perfectly in the small sub pocket (watch pocket) of all my pants.
Everything you guys have described shows that you need a knife at home, not on you 24/7

Nonsense. Home is probably the least useful place to have my knife. I have numerous tools better tailored for the job available at home. I need a knife when I'm out, and can't carry hundreds of pounds of tools.

wtf..

it's a pocket knife. who cares that he had it. who cares if someone carries one daily.

fuck i carry mine daily and i use damn near every day. nearly EVERYONE carries one around here.

I use a knife daily; mostly pocket knives, but I also carry a largish fixed blade for work. I add a low profile fixed blade when I travel in sketchy areas because it's my right.

Lol, badass. 😀 You guys just seem so weird to me sometimes.

No, he's right, they are very useful for many tasks. that being said the dude would have just been better off surrendering to the arrest and fight it in court because now he will get additional charges thrown at him.

Social justice warriors should use key rings when in New York.

Does anyone have a non-shit link that actually works without allowing eleventy billion scripts from that shiitty site?

Yeah, I carry a knife just about everywhere unless I'm flying without a checked bag. I have ever since I was...probably 10-11yo?

No I need it at work too, pretty much handy everywhere I go. I even used it once to unstick the door latch of my car. If I"m about to go into someplace nice, it's handy for a quick nail cleaning or trimming. Great for splinters. Ticks on a dog..maybe even useful if being attacked by a dog.

I rarely go anywhere without a knife.

I
I don't carry a rambo type knife on my hip, but a smaller 3" or so folding blade in the front right pocket or waist band.

NYC allows a fixed blade as long as it's less than 4", which is more than enough for any reasonable urban utility use. They don't allow any folding knife or switchblade, which seems a bit unreasonable considering what you carry, but there it is.

Given the law and they way they enforce it in NYC, the guy had a stupidly losing attitude.

Philly is way more restrictive on knives and such. You can't carry any blade of any type of any length, not that the cops are looking for it like the cop in that video seemed to have done.

-You are under arrest.
-No
-Whap

I don't see the problem here.

Nope, the guy was resisting arrest and belligerent. He tried running and the cop didn't do anything wrong here.

Now, if the cop had not also been a black guy, of course it'd be time to fire him and sue the US gov't.

and what is someone who's going camping or works in a warehouse or something supposed to do?
