I noticed that too. But, I'm going to apply Occam's razor: OP did an excellent job backing up without hitting the car behind him before snapping the picture.

I think the simpler explanation would be that the car was already there when the OP parked, and the OP backed up to be close to the car (and farther from the hydrant) initially.
