So I'm definitely going to be in NYC this coming weekend (16-19th), staying most likely at the Berkley hotel somewhere in Midtown. Here's what my schedule looks like thus far:

Friday: Arrive around 8:20AM, take train/subway into city (and hope not to get lost), drop off luggage at hotel (can't check-in til afternoon), get to the Met around 9 or 10. Take in what I can in the Met until 2, where I'll pick up a hotdog or McDs while I wait in line at TKTS for a ticket to Assassins. 3:30ish, I go back to the hotel to check in, maybe change for the show. Any leftover time between then and 6, I'll be back at the Met or the Museum of Natural History. 6, dinner with friend, 8 o'clock curtain for show. After the show, go back to the hotel, which is when the other members of our party should be arriving. Take a nap/"freshen up" and get ready to hit the bars/clubs.

Any ways to make this day more efficient? Seems like I'm not getting a lot of time at the museums :( Other than that, suggestions for some good clubs...must have good music, hiphop and/or techno/house. We're hoping for a decently good asian crowd though.

Saturday: Wake up, brace for hangover impact. Lunch, then shopping all day, then a jazz/blues/rock joint...something more casual, but still entertaining and must maintain as such for the rest of the evening...maybe more than one throughout the night. Suggestions?

Sunday: Dim sum, Coney Island, Flushing for Chinese food, then another club/bar, then sleeping at the airport for a flight at 6AM.

Cliff notes:
Going to New York, need suggestions on big, hot clubs with hiphop/techno with good amounts of asians...I personally don't trust that description, but whatever. Other than that, suggestions on performance clubs (jazz/blues/rock).

TIA. :D

The Hole. Period.

Stop by East Buffet in Flushing. A bit expensive, but definitely worth it :D

Seach citysearch.com for all the info you need. It has everything including the "best of" lists for many catagores, including, shopping, dining, day trips, etc.

The best club in my opinion is the Sound Factory. You wouldn't believe the stuff that goes on in there in wee hours of the morning. Definitely a place to see and be seen.

East Buffet fo shizzle. It's like a 25$ buffet, but it'll be the best asian buffet you've ever had.

Clubs depend on whether you're 18, or 21. Some nights are 21 only, others are 18. Avalon is always good. The club that replaced Limelight is an azn one I think, don't remember the name.

Avalon, eh? One of our friends that will be joining us suggested that, and we believe him (for the most part) since he's from NYC. I'll remember East Buffet, thanks guys.

And yeah, we're all 21, so we're looking for a more "sophisticated" club, and one that'll take us into the wee hours of the morning, to contrast the damn 2AM shutdown time of Detroit/Michigan.

yeah, I've heard about those as well...many thanks, I'll check it out.

Problem is that I'm 90% a techno guy for club music, as I don't listen to hip-hop and I don't like not knowing the music, but more than half of the group likes hiphop. :(

lol yeah i'm the same way. i'm a trance fan, and most of my friends don't kno any thing about it. the good thing about avalon is that it usually plays house/techno/trance in the main room, and in the other it's mostly hiphop (they throw some random crap rock music in there sometimes for god knows why).

since you asked, the biggest asian party network is a group called XO. But apparently there's nothing going on for this upcoming weekend. My gf and her friends always go and have a good time. I'm personally not the type.

BTW, if you want the best hot dogs, you need to hit up the corner vendors. Their unwashed hands provide the best tasting dogs ANYWHERE ! I swear.

And don't expect a $1 menu at McDs. In Manhattan, it's more like $1.29+ I think.

why the hell do you want to go to coney island for? you won't see any hot chicks there, the place is almost the most ghetto place in brooklyn. I used to walk to there last summer with my friends. most people are black too.

if you plan to spend 1.5 hour on subway to coney island, then you will be having fun for another 3 hours subway ride to flushing. unless you are going to be driving.

I have no clue why we're going to CI...we originally wanted to hit up Miami for the sun and beaches, so I guess that's the closest thing we'll get? Don't ask, I'm just the messenger. ;) A co-worker who just moved from NYC said the subway wouldn't take that long though...

Thanks for the food suggestions and the XO network tip! Any little joints near the TKTS office that I should know about?

Get some soup dumplings at Joe's Shanghai in Chinatown.

Also, Vietnamese food at Pho Bang is awesome and cheap.

Take in a show too. Phantom is fantastic. Highly recommended but avoid Tuesday because I think the understudies play then.

Edit: Gray's Papaya has some of the best hot dogs. There is one in the village on W 4th I believe and one on 72nd and Broadway.

If you want the best burger in town, go to Big Nick's on 76th and Broadway.

For an awesome steak, get the sirloin at Sparks.

random thought...any good 24-hour pho joints near the club district(s)? I love some good pho while the room is still spinning.
