NY to legalize marijuana

lol Cuomo.

lol what amazing ridiculous tax rates are they going to put on it so that the illegal market still thrives like in California?

CA prices look pretty much like WA prices as far as I can tell, I don't know why I'd go through the hassle of black market weed at those prices.
Retail prices here are better than black market prices in the midwest, too...

I guess it's good from a prison perspective at least - though hasn't it already been decriminalized?

But if you have to impose so much in taxes that the illegal market still thrives, then it doesn't do much good.

It was weakly decriminalized by moving possession to a misdemeanor, not nearly good enough.

Legal retail will capture a bunch of the middle and all the high end demand. The illicit market will still exist but it doesn't really matter that much IMO. Were I inclined to smoke I'd go to the MedMen down the block rather than wheeling over to my dealer and rolling the dice on getting a bunch of stemmy Mexican brick or something more tolerable.

Great, the city is going to have a smell. You do realize that New York state little by little is trying to copy Nevada's laws. First it was a casino at the Aqueduct Racetrack. Then it was legalizing gay marriage. Followed by this, the legalization of weed. I did my research this time, and they really are trying to copy the laws of Nevada, because legitimately next on the list is legalization of prostitution in the state of New York. Nevada is the only other state where it would be legal. No wonder for the past two presidential elections, NYC has been going more and more Republican. What the New York State legislature does not understand is that majority of Las Vegas have tried multiple times unsuccessfully to illegalize prostitution state-wide, as the businesses in Las Vegas are considering it to be a nuisance.

I think IL probably has some of the worst taxes on it yet I don't think our black market is that bad, at least everyone I know has just been going to dispensaries since they opened. It wasn't that easy to find good weed consistently before it was legalized so not worth the hassle at all for me.

Whatever drugs you are on should not be legalized. This I know.

I am on ADHD drugs that were prescribed to me. Nothing illegal. Why are you saying what I said was wrong??? What other state is trying to make prostitution legal?

Well lower the dose or something. Your post is nonsensical. You do know a lot of other states have legalized weed for years now. Gay marriage was legalized on the federal level years ago, and how has that brought down our society? I mean what are you talking about.

Weed to prostitution, quite the jump. Keep in mind, I think both should be legal.

And you're right, freedom has a certain smell to it

Yes, sex work should be legal.

Legalize it and tax it is always the answer 😉

I have to laugh though at how the hooker market would be - walk into a store... at the top is a list of names on the menu with a dollar amount next to them.

You can have Samantha for $300

Or you can have Betty who has a missing eye that is 54 that will do it for $30

NYC needs the revenue. Weed will bring in big money. Billions of dollars.

Now, hopefully politicans don't waste that money and in-turn put it to good use.

Not measurably different than how it is now but safer for everyone and the gov gets a cut.

Dude, do you live in the city? It already has a smell. Somewhere between moldy bar and fetid swamp ass.
