I"ve played COD and shotguns generally suck compared to rifles with 30 rd clips. Even close-quarters.
Christ almighty.
I"ve played COD and shotguns generally suck compared to rifles with 30 rd clips. Even close-quarters.
Much like there isn't much personal responsibility or rational thought around yours.
Hey guys, can we legislate these? Oh... dang.
Well, until I showed him that CDC study he didn't even know how ineffective gun laws are. This thread has been quite educational for him.Why are you playing CoD?
Also games =/= Real life, but you clearly don't know that.

In real life, 26 people were killed by a crazy person with guns. And before that, a theater was shot up. And before that a Sikh temple. And before that a congresswoman in a supermarket.
So yes, gun culture is a problem.

Gun culture is a problem, and you're part of it by playing video games. In real life, 26 people were killed by a crazy person with guns. And before that, a theater was shot up. And before that a Sikh temple. And before that a congresswoman in a supermarket.

What about the countless AFRICAN AMERICANS IN GANGS IN INNER CITIES WITH STRICT GUN CONTROL LAWS?!?!
Oh right, they're not white people, no one cares.
and I've explained that gun laws often bend backwards in preserving gun privileges.
In Australia after they significantly tightened up gun laws, there haven't been mass shootings of hte frequency that occur here.
Gun culture is a problem, and you're part of it by playing video games.
Interestingly, despite a meta analysis of 51 firearms studies that you are happy to ignore showing no relevance of gun laws and gun crime, there are plenty of studies of psychology showing how exposure to violence desensitizes. So, it makes more sense to ban exposure to violence before guns, if we use science. Are you going to give up your games and movies? Didn't think so.
I'm sorry, your argument doesn't get to trump 51 studies by many PhDs.and I've explained that gun laws often bend backwards in preserving gun privileges.

So you want to get all guns off the street, amirite?
Well, if the NRA says we need to step up mental health, that's what you do, isn't it? That's the logical consequence of the NRA's line of reasoning.

Your reference to Australia is irrelevant, because I can find plenty of other stats that refute what you're trying to do. and that's the point: individual stats mean nothing without context and trends. If only--oh, I know! 51 studies had been looked at that analyzed this kind of thing. If only we had a group of professional scientists to look at those studies and tell us what the numbers really mean, then we could settle this.
The US is not the Netherlands. It's already rife with weapons and this must be recognized. Obviously if there were no guns in the entire country there would be no gun violence. In like the netherlands they consume more video games per capita than the US, but with the tight gun control regime, there is far less real life gun violence.
So I guess you'll stop referring to other industrialized nations, when we're talking about the US? Thanks for that quote. You're selectively quoting from the study. Here's another quote:
International comparisons indicate that the United States is an outlier among developed, industrialized nations in rates of firearms violence
Since that's actually impossible, I don't see how you're going to magically do it without... magic.
I don't see how trampling on the rights of law abiding citizens will create magic and unicorns to solve all your problems.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signs the nation's first gun control bill passed since last month's Newtown school shootings.
Please don't tell me you get your firearms "knowledge" from a computer game.
I've suddenly lost the will to live.

New York has fallen.
How could confiscating Nancy's guns been detected? Nancy was in proper mental health (as far as I/we know), it was her son who wasn't. The guns were hers, not his.
So now by extension you're wanting people to not only self-report their own friends/family they suspect might have a mental problem, which will not only trigger - what? - immediate confiscation of that persons firearms, but, - what? - all firearms of people that person has contact with?
Because from your line of reasoning, that's where I see you going.
