NY State *passes* most restrictive weapons ban ever after being rushed to a vote.

Karmy - how many guns are there out there right now? 300 million i've heard. Why do we not have 300 million deaths in the US every day? Maybe it's not the simple fact that guns aren't the problem. The owners going crazy are the problem? lets address that first before trampling everyone elses' rights. . . ?

Mandatory psych evaluations for all firearm owners? I tend to agree that that is probably a good direction to go in.

Every little bit helps. He chose the weapons he did for a reason.

No, every little bit doesn't help. You've got an entire classroom of people getting as far away from the entrance th pyshco is coming through as possible, many sh1tting and/or p1ssing their pants and/or traumatized with fear. You're saying that the psycho walks in, blows lets say 7 away, slide locks back, and instantly, the mass of now completely enraged and empowered 6 year olds rushs the gunman and takes him down like a Monochrome Smurf Spawn From Hell? And, because of that, these laws make sense?

I am challenging you on that, that it doesn't help one Fing bit. Do you see how senseless this bill is? I already know the answer, it's just amusing honestly to see the gun grabbers defending this...

Well, that's more "rational" now.

7 bullets means more reloading. More reloading = more opportunities for people to flee someone shooting in a public area.

Not really, I can drop a handgun magazine and reload in very little time and I am not that experienced compared to a lot of people.. Besides having less rounds just means you use a more potent caliber like 10mm or. 357sig since each round needs to count more.

Just don't retrofit it. Unless the police have a previous reason to go looking around/at your guns. They will never know.

Some of us like to go hunting with our guns. If I take the .22 out, apparently now I need to purchase something to legally use my gun (if this bill passes the rest of the way)?

I'm sure you have tons of fun imaging all the ways you can kill elementary school kids. Really, family fun for everyone!

I find before making large important decisions, I game out Reality as best as possible and then make an educated as possible decision, or, set of decisions, based at least on some kind of rational thought, rather than some kind of emotional based response.

So...what was your answer to my question? You're going to go with your above dodge non-answer?

It's still an additional step.

It's also additional bulk.

Again, it was riddled with holes including grandfathering in existing gear.

The NY law is much more comprehensive. It bars you from transferring existing gear. That is a huge difference.
Again, that was a meta-analysis of 51 studies.

Are you better at understanding these studies than that team of PhDs? Because they don't agree with you and have studied this more than anybody in the thread.

Such a shame that the national black market can only be addressed with nation-wide legislation. Otherwise, gun dealers in Alabama can sell guns to people in NY under the table

Reality is that if someone had confiscated Nancy Lanza's guns, this would not have happened.

So we should step up the gun confiscations.

No idea what you're talking about, but you seem to be trying to avoid the importance of "In summary, the Task Force found insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of any of the firearms laws reviewed for preventing violence.".

Would you volunteer to go door to door collecting guns? I would advise a good life insurance policy if you are willing to because odds are you will end up permanently occupying a remote spot on some guys property.

Ahhh...and there we go. Why didn't you just say that in the first place! This new bill is a good first step, amirite?

Well, if the NRA says we need to step up mental health, that's what you do, isn't it? That's the logical consequence of the NRA's line of reasoning.
