Isn't NYC tap rated the highest in the world? I absolutely love the tap water in my apartment.

On another note, New Jersey water is horrible. It was a sweet rotten taste to it. I remember a few years back my neice started to cry because her mother was making her drink it...lol

You say "New Jersey water" as if all water from NJ would taste the same. Please tell me you don't think all water from NJ tastes the same.

Smell influences taste to a great degree, so...

Let me know when you visit the areas of NJ that aren't so close to NYC or Philly.

They compared 3 identical pizzas (same guy made all 3), with LA water, CHI water, and NY water.

In a blind taste test, they choose the one made with NY water as the best.

Probably because LA gets the water shipped in, CHI pumps it in from lake MI, and NY water gets filtered through rock and gets carried to NY by river.

Thats because NY's got the best CULTURE.

NY is so fucking full of itself. i'm not willing to pay 200% for everything there, including nights out, pizza and everything just to say omfg i was in ny!!!! what a waste of $

pizza anywhere is can be good or shitty. it's not like a cheesesteak where only philly/south jersey knows how to make a decent one.

I wouldn't be so sure... I grew up in western NY on well water. Our well was about 185' deep, spring fed. Bedrock in that area is granite with a lot of limestone... iron and calcium galore. My father eventually put a filter on the tank, and we would change the filter probably every month or two because it would become so full of sediment (mostly rust) it would actually kill the water pressure. Yeah... it was some seriously hard water.

But... I can hardly drink water the same way anymore, particularly from public supplies. I've lived in various parts of NY, FL, and most recently in AL, and spent a good amount of time in MA too... and let me tell you, there is nothing like a glass of straight-from-the-tap ice cold well water.

the pizza I make is more delicious than anything I've ever bought from a vendor in any city. It's all in the sauce. Fresh tomatoes + garlic + olive oil + sugar. Keep it simple. Also, start the heat in the pan with just the oil, then add the garlic bits to let them fry for a bit, then put in the tomato chunks and wait for it to cook down. mmmmmm.

If you have extra sauce and leftover toppings just throw it together and freeze in a jar, it works as spaghetti sauce.

I know we've all discussed this before, and I'm a huge proponent of quality in the home kitchen; however, you're not duplicating the same effort at the better pizza houses no matter what you do unless you're sporting an oven that can reach the same temperatures.

Atlanta has a local guy that's a bit nutty about pizza, and he went as far as tweaking his home oven to reach the right temperatures. He used to give everyone tastes out of his house before launching the restaurant.

And, for a lot of people, myself included, fresh tomatoes doesn't necessarily cut it for a pizza sauce. What you're describing is basically the recipe for a simple marinara.

Ich... his pizza's look disgusting.

:Q

mmm...

I get goosebumps looking at this. seriously.

Wow...retarded.

They could have made 3 different pizzas with the same ingredients, and they would have picked a winner.

This is the idea that is funny. Same meat, same cheese whiz, same bread...it is all the fucking same.

It is the weak human mind that makes you think that the same exact fucking thing is better in once place over another.

however many people tested it on the show, whether it was just the host, or maybe 5 or so more ppl, the sample size is far to small to make any concrete conclusion.

I'm just assuming they didn't bother having population size be greater than a 100.

Even then,

I want to see a regression analysis with other x variables like: location, amt of pizza eaten per year, etc...

cheese steak is actually true though, for some reason no one outside of the philly area knows how to make one. either that or every single place i've been to thats not philly makes a bad cheesesteak. good pizza can be had anywhere

The NYC water supply is drawn mostly from reservoirs in the Catskills and the Delaware river then piped down into the city through aqueducts. What is notable about their water is that no filtration process is used and only chlorine gets added to kill microorganisms.

I've spent significant amounts of time living on the west coast and in pennsylvania and feel pretty comfortable saying that is completely not true.

That's one of the reasons they're building the 3rd water tunnel. When they finish stage 2 of it they can shut down tunnel #1 (went online 1917) for a half billion dollar repair.

This is certainly one of the dumber things I've read this fine morning.

I saw it last night and said to my wife it was lame they didn't do blind answers.

Have everyone taste it then write down their answer without sharing their answer with anyone else and then see what the results were.

First guy says "I think it's B" and of course all the other guys follow suit.

Now of course it is possible that was the actual case, but there's also a good chance that the first person answer influenced the others.

I think it's all in your head. Like when food taste differently down the Jersey Shore with the old salt water air myth.

That's a nice thought except none of them knew what pizza they were tasting.
