It's a matter of opinion that he acts smug about cheating
Why are you going to bring this up? All I said in my previous post was that he acts a lot differently around the Boston media and is generally more friendly. He's always been that way. I never said anything about cheating, but now we're talking about cheating again.
We have two choices in this thread. It can either degenerate into another Patriots*, cheater, blah blah thing or it can continue to be a reasonable discussion about a football game.
Let's just get the first option out of the way:
First, we're going to rehash what the Patriots did. You're going to say it was entirely out of line, that it was the worst thing to happen to football and that it calls into question all their previous wins. Then I'm going to say other teams have done this before, other teams have cheated before, individual players cheat on a regular basis and why aren't we dealing with that? You'll counter saying this is a team-wide thing and that it stems from the coaching. I'll say that individuals always make poor choices, but that I don't see how a coach's choice affects the players beneath him.
Second, you're going to say they're a classless team, that they run up the score and that all they care about is winning at any cost. I'll agree with the latter part, but try to tell you that it isn't running up the score, blah blah blah. You'll probably also mention something about how this scandal proves that Brady is no good and that it's the only way he's succeeded. I'll probably point out that there are plenty of other QBs in the league who are good who weren't highly drafted.
Third, you'll tell me that the team should get asterisks over all their wins because of this scandal. I'll tell you that it happened in week 1, that there is no proof that it happened before, and that expunging past victories would be impossible. Then I'll try and say that their success this season should be proof the other three weren't flukes. You'll tell me that Belichik wasn't a man because he didn't own up to what he did - I'll say that I might agree with you and that he certainly is an egotistical bastard, but a hell of a coach.
Finally, you'll think I'm a stupid blindly loyal Patriots fan and I'll think you're just a bitter fan who hates the Patriots because they've been so good. Ultimately, we'll have resolved nothing, we'll probably both be half-right and half-wrong, but neither one of us will admit that.
I'm glad we got that out of our system. Let's resume our normally schedule thread now, shall we?
