he'll go down as one of the greatest, if not the greatest coaches ever. at least to anyone who knows football.

I was only commenting/laughing about him having any sort of honor. Feeling a little defensive are we?
why the lack of honor? oh, spygate again....

or running up the score...

I would have had more respect for the man if after he was caught (the 2nd time I believe) he owned up to it instead of hiding behind some lame-ass excuse (misinterpreted the rule my ass). Just to be clear, I don't have a dog in this fight...I don't really care much for the NFL.

pats lose to the Phins next week, this week they go up 56-0 in the first half. They'll leave the field at halftime and finish the game 56-3.

EDIT: Upon further review, that would only be the second highest.

Here's to the second highest scoring game in league history!

It would not even be in the top three, and probably would not even be in the top ten:

http://www.nfl.com/history/randf/records/team/scoring
Most Points, Both Teams, Game
113 Washington (72) vs. N.Y. Giants (41), Nov. 27, 1966
106 Cincinnati (58) vs. Cleveland (48), Nov. 28, 2004
101 Oakland (52) vs. Houston (49), Dec. 22, 1963

Also, what is the world makes you think that the Jets would score a safety on the Pats?

MotionMan

Actually it would as when sports commentators talk about the highest scoring game they refer to the Skins putting up the 72 points.

Then the commentators would be wrong. It probably would not be the first time.

"The highest scoring game" is not the same as "the most points scored by a team in a game" (even though both actually occurred in the same game).

In other words, the record above is different than the one below:

Most Points, Game
72 Washington vs. N.Y. Giants, Nov. 27, 1966
70 Los Angeles vs. Baltimore, Oct. 22, 1950
66 Rochester vs. Fort Porter, Oct. 10, 1920

As a Jets fan I dread this week coming. The Pats can't be stopped. Have to give a  to hopefully seeing history in the making with an undefeated season.

Plus the Jets need a higher draft pick.

Same here, I just hope the Niners can learn how to win so the Pats don't end up with better draft position than the Jets :p

My god the Niners are stupid...

I think that all of this talk about running up the score is just going to get the Jets defense up for the game. And their D ain't all that bad. No way the Pats will cover that spread.

You watched a lot of 80's movies where the poor misfits challenged the rich kids to a contest to save their summer camp, didn't you?

Oh I will be the first to admit that he is a great coach but the guy comes off as a total douchebag.

To the national media, he definitely comes off as a dick. If you ever get to listen to his local interviews, however, he's a lot different. He warms up a lot to the Boston media.

It's a lot easier to warm up to people who don't care if your actions are questionable or not.

It's really not questionable at this point, is it? He's a great coach, but an asshole through and through.

edit: Patsies* win, 42-10.

edit: Post removed, I don't think arguing about the media's treatment of the Patriots and Belichick will do anything other than spark yet another stupid debate about the Patriots. I have my opinions on the issue, you have yours, let's let it be.

On a radio interview today when Chris Mortenson was asked about whether NE would run up the score on the Jets, his first answer was a joke about them going for 73 to get the record.

It's a matter of opinion that he acts smug about cheating
