60k visitors. Put a secured lockbox there and have a groundskeeper come by every evening to take the money out of it. Put "Recommended burial donation: $1". Some will give nothing, I bet most would give $1 and some will give more. Then just see what happens, no need to make a damn task force to figure it out and elect a panel of representatives to man it and hire a PR firm. Sites the world over are done the same way and in most cases it works just fine and is reliable.

I agree with the two posts above. He would likely be classified as a domestic terrorist today. I know that slavery is wrong, but Brown was a religious fanatic that twisted his beliefs to slaughter (sometimes with swords) innocents and the guilty (take it some of the folks he took out likely had it coming, not that I condone vigilantism). I would not call him a hero any more so than any violent fanatic that shares my overall views on certain issues.

Glad none of my tax dollars are going towards that 40K a year. If spending that much on upkeep it is that important, charge fees to view it.
