I've seen those drives many times before and they seem like a fantastic deal........until your realize that a brand new drive has a 5yr. warranty from Samsung, these drives have:

  • Manufacturer's Warranty - Parts
    90 Days
  • Manufacturer's Warranty - Labor
    90 Days

Still a good deal if you don't mind giving up the warranty i suppose.

but thats the thing, they still have samsung warranty for 5 years since its done by serial, maybe they have 3 years left is my guess id be more tempted if the 500gb performed same speed as a 1tb but i havnt checked yet, 90 days from bestbuy + original warranty. Also i have never had a ssd / nvme go bad so.. of course i cant remember the last time a sata went bad unless from dropping it while in use.

So I ordered a 500GB 970 EVO Plus for $80, and they sent me a 1TB 860 EVO. WTF? I mean it's a good deal for me moneywise, but I wanted the 500GB 970 Plus, I don't necessarily need an SSD right now, I needed the nvme drive...
Just wondering if I should just ebay the 860 and buy a new 970 EVO Plus with the proceeds...

yea seems like a hassle either way, paypal fee ebay fee, not sure what you would get for the 1tb evo 860 but if its new sounds OK, im sure bb would send you a shipping label for the return, maybe you can get them to do something special for you? i dont buy alot of things off bestbuy, the samsung earbuds i bought didnt even have the rubber piece for your ears and took forever to ship, cant remember anything else i purchased from there. sorry

Yeah, I *may* be able to get just enough from ebay for this drive to make it worthwhile. I checked the drive they sent me, only 931GB written, date of production 2019-05, so a decent used drive. I wish that happened when I was in a market for a 1TB SSD just recently...

just bought that exact drive from someone on the forums for 75 and found myself lucky. (tho he didnt mention how many write cycles it had i was happy with the shipped taxed price of 75) im sure they go for over 100 on ebay since nvme seem to be lower priced then ssd 1tb. id do some kinda online chat first maybe they can give you 10$ credit extra for the hassle ?

Ooh ouch, that is a great price, I was going off the new price of $150 I am seeing everywhere, was hoping for $120 or so from ebay, but if they are going that low, I may just talk to BB instead and see if they will give me a break somewhere...

Hah, so went to a local BB with the 860, and they exchanged it for a brand new 970 Plus of the same size I ordered. Great deal, thanks BestBuy for stepping up after a mixup!
