Just picked me up a E8400 and a Asus P5K mobo. Im having some issues with turning off speed step. I tried turning everything off in the cpu settings and it just wont keep the settings when i reboot. Everything else is fine. Any one else had this problem?

Flash your BIOS to the current stable release or an older one and try?
Also why would you want to want to turn it off, having it on would be a good thing for the most part; less heat, less power draw, etc.

Mine says disabled, but it isn't.

I'm also having an OC problem with this board.

Try disabling C1E as well - just read you need C1E and SpeedStep disabled.

Nope doesn't work for me. It just renables itself. Im also Vdrooping. I set it to 1.4375 in the bios and it shows up as 1.384. When i run Orthos i get down to 1.35

Im at a point were im going to just exchange it.

I have a P5K-E and the vdrop issue is in the newer bios's, use bios 0603 if posible. Also try to disable CPU TM to get rid of speed step.

Can't. 0704 are the ones that support the new cpu's. I tried to disable cpu tm and it just enables itself again. =/

Odd my speed step will stay disabled, I have C1E and Speed step disabled...the 0704 bios has been out for awhile it doesn't support the wolfies you need to get the beta 0805;)

Link for compatibility and driver download:
CPU COMPATIBILITY

(you need to pick your mobo then scroll down to your cpu and click GO)

Let me know if things worked out for you

Yep im already using those bios. Im not sure why i can't disable C1E and Speed Step. I can do it at first but once it reboots it just renables itself.
