way ahead of you

Stop using that garbage they call Vista.

You could also try a system restore.
Your best bet is to toss the drive into another box, backup the data and reinstall your OS.

We've tried hard to make the patch process as safe and robust as possible. Its always a good idea to create your own backup of:
- C:\windows\system32\ThemeUI.dll
- C:\windows\system32\UxTheme.dll
- C:\windows\system32\Shsvcs.dll
- C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Aero\aero.msstyles

Have you like, umm... ya know.. taken the time to search google and actually look at the forums devoted to this software you're using?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you're 99% nub.

im going to also go out on a limb and say that you didn't read my 3rd post. it would be helpful to you and everyone around you if you would post after and ONLY after you have read the whole thread. and im pretty sure you are the "nub" that just advised me to get rid of vista and do a clean install. Its a good thing you aren't tech support for anybody. Ummmm, WOW!?

Yea so thanks anyway......

Give him a break, almost no one actually backs up their files before patching. Dumb, maybe, but everyone does it.

Of course, if you're using a Microsoft OS that isn't behind a couple of service packs, more care is never a bad idea...
