NVIEW (Dual Monitor) is driving me crazy! HELP

I didn't even know about Nview with my Geforce4 Ti4600 card till recently when I sold my 2nd computer and had an extra monitor lying around. I hooked the 2nd up and went to windows display properties and there was this nice tab that let me disable dual monitor support, have it cloned, or have it spanned thru 2 monitors from left to right or top to bottom.
Everything was great...Dvd's worked on the 2nd monitor as well as my tv tuner. But the problem was that I could not maximize these windows with out it being stretched onto both monitors.

Now this is where the problem starts...I was fiddling around and clicked on the NVIEW wizard...now that TAB that had those 4 dual display options disapeared (the one where you could set cloned, disable, top to bottom, left to right).
Now I can only have dvds or my tv tuner displayed on my 2nd monitor by setting the overlay settings for video in one of the option menus. It doesnt matter what size the window is on my primary monitor, it will be displayed fullscreen on my 2nd monitor. I've tried upgrading to the latest detonators and still nothing.

Now my question is...was I using the Windows XP native dual display utility when I first tried this? I remember my monitor having a resolution of like 2048x812 (i dont remember the exact numbers) Now I can only have them set to their normal resolutions.

Please help, I know this is confusing but this is driving me crazy.
I have a MSI Geforce4 Ti4600 with 2 19" displays in Windows XP with SP1 + the latest Nvidia Detonators.

:) I'd bet you've updated something like newer Dets or something. I had a prob with v40 dets but now using v41 (although I think 42 is out now) and the nView panel reappeared. I only use TVout anyway and TVtool is much better for that so I wasn't too worried. I'd say try diff Dets.

;) Also the way in which nVidia does the dual display fools Windows in to thinking it has 1 large widescreen type monitor rather than 2 monitors, so if you run 2 monitors at 800x600 and horiz span Windows will see 1 monitor 1600x600 hence the wierd numbers you saw.

I am having minor issues too.
I was messing around with configs Windows duel view vs. Nviews. In the end I installed the lattest drivers from Nvidia. Now I can't get as high of a resolution in span mode as I could have before. It could be a driver thing solved by going back to the other drivers but I think the new driver run much faster. Perhaps there is a way to change the resolution in the registary?
I have a MSI ti4400, 19" and 15", Win 2000 SP3

;) It's always wise to completely uninstall (if not remove) all previous drivers, then reboot and then install the new drivers. It is most likely some wierd driver quirk letting you down. Something else you may want to check is what 'driver' for each monitor you're using, using 'default' or 'plugnplay' are usually best avoided so either try to get a driver for each specific monitor or select the 'standard AxB' where AxB is the max res for the respective monitor. It could just be that Windows / drivers are limiting you to the max resolution of what it thinks the smaller screen can display. HTH!

Thanks Austin.
I think you are right that it is the monitor driver. I have not dug to deep into it yet. I now am successfully using UltraMon. And I am like it. My second monitor will only allow a resolution of 1024 x 768. So that does seem to explain the problem.
