I am upgrading on a budget, and I am thinking of getting this card.

Asus V9280/TD Ti4200 8X 128MB w/TV-Out, DVI, Dual VGA

On the website, it says it is clocked at 200Mhz/300Mhz DDR, so I assume the DDR makes it 400/600.

I am just wondering what peoples experiences are with this card.

BTW, currently I am on a voodoo3 16mb, so I am hoping I will see a difference.

btw, i upgraded from a voodoo5 5500 to the v9280 back in january 🙂
 
Haha, what games can you play on it? And on what settings?

Im no hardcore gamer, but I do play a few. I mainly play Warcraft 3, BF1942 and Rise of Nations (DX9).

The only new games I will be playing in the future would be World of Warcraft beta/possibly retail, and maybe Doom3, and Battlefield Vietnam.
 
i play mainly CS and Desertcombat, It can run Desert combat with Max details at 1024X768 with my 1700 athlon, according to the ingame fps meter i average over 100fps. i have also played morrowind on it. it runs well max detail, its a ported over xbox game included with the card, very optomized for that type of gpu. WCIII, i have also played at max everything with no lag. Doom3 should run on it with sacrafices. i think they said that a 8500 should run it so you should be safe with a 4200. as long as you dont run max settings on doom 3. btw, it o/c past 4400 levels with ease

yes, the mother of ram hog

btw, i tend not to use FSAA and AF. but from my experiances. 2X FSAA and 2/4X AF run decently with this card. anything higher than that in 1942 would produce light lag and if you set it to 4X FSAA and 8X AF, it would probably be laggy as all get out in 1942

The RAM im getting is Corsair 512MB PC2700 with some heatspreader thing and cas2 or something or other.

Yea, I probably wont even use FSAA and AF...
 
What do I have to do to see my FPS in Battlefiled 1942(I only plat dessert combat)? I run 1600x1200 with max details and it runs flawlessly and I was wondering what FPS I was getting.

DDR is only for memory so it would actually be 200/600. TI4200 should overclock pretty well, however.
