I wonder if this will be just be a 32nm or 28nm Die shrink? Didn't the original Fermi paper say it has additional memory bus (up to 512 bit) could be used at 28nm?

Given all the problems TSMC had with getting its 40nm process online, and the fact that they just started getting 28nm production ready, I don't see nVidia wanting to take a chance on another round of crappy yield problems. I'd be pretty surprised if that was the case.

I twill be a die shrink guaranteed...

ATI will be using Global Foundry and Nvidia chip is so large, they NEED a die shrink. 28nm FTW I say.

That is a very big just! Could take care of some power/heat issues and be very popular amongst us quiet guys.

Does this mean that Fermis is being released next month? If so, that is awesome. If not, that kind of sucks. I don't want to spend $500+ on a 5870, and the Fermi release may drop the price down to something I would find more palatable.

I take the silence to mean that no one really has a good idea when Fermi will be released. It is looking like I won't build a new computer until March now, so I hope it is released by then.

You can get a 5870 right now for $350 after CB, that's a pretty good deal. Are you planning on buying Fermi or just hoping for reactionary price drops from AMD. If the latter, I don't think you'll see that for quite some time. NVIDIA is going to have low supply initially and will keep the price high to maximize it's profits in accordance with said supply. Even if Fermi is much faster than the 5870 (25%<), they might meet the same price/performance ratio.

I would likely get a 5870 unless the Fermi is cheap and on par with the 5870. I was hoping to pay around $300 for the 5870, and have only seen it around $500 when I have looked. If it is available at $350 right now, then that is an acceptable price for me, and I will pick one up as soon as all my finances are in order after getting my tax refund.

Link to where there are 5870's for $350 please. The lowest price on price watch is $379, and that is w/o the $10 shipping at that price.
Here's the thread on it: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1836289
