nVidia vs Matrox DVI 2D

I know that Matrox have the best 2D around when you use the ordinary VGA port but what about when you use DVI? Im wondering because if I got it right you dont use the DAC when you hock up via DVI. Or maybe you do if you still use DVI-A? Well if anyone knows pleae tell me how it works.

The dvi is a digital signal, so 2d quality should be the same no matter what make.

Btw how does ref rates work when you use DVI? And how good is nVidia with its dual desktop support these days?

nVIDIA's multi-monitor support nView is an improvement over TwinView but Matrox' multi-monitor support has been around since the G200 series and is excellent. Have a G450 running Win2k Professional on multi-display with independent resolutions and refresh rates.

nView's use of multiple user profiles, hot-keys, and transparency effects is nice, but overall I prefer Matrox' ease and simplicity.

I just got a Matrox Parhelia, and it's very nice. Now, I'm running three CRTs, but the card itself actually has two DVI ports on it. You can run one CRT, two CRTs, three CRTs, one DVI, two DVIs, one DVI and one CRT, or one DVI and two CRTs, but you can't run three DVIs (unless you use the VGA ports on two of them, treating them like a CRT). To get three CRTs, you use a DVI to CRT adapter on the main port, and a DVI to two CRTs splitter cable on the secondary port. A DVI to TV is also included for use on the secondary port only (I think), so you can do one CRT and one TV or one DVI and one TV. I'm not doing TV out, so I didn't pay much attention to that part of it. All these cables are included with the card (at least the retail version of it, which is what I have).
