Check out the performance of Nvidia vs. ATI stock over the last three months. It looks like the 7800 has allowed Nvidia to continue on course, while the failure to produce R520 contributed to a 20% drop for ATI.

I'm sure there were other factors involved in the plummet for ATI, but it is still interesting. I wonder if ATI will make up for lost ground when they finally release Xfire and the R520...or if it will be too little, too late.

It would be nice if ATI had a card out soon to help bring Nvidia's card prices inline.

I have been wathching both TSMC (TSM) and ATI (ATYT) stock in the last week or so to see if it might indicate product release on R520 maybe. Both were making a nice comeback. Though this is cetainly dissapointing, like others have mentioned, look at the history of the stock.

So, your point is...?
I just bought some ATI stock last month, because it's pretty much guaranteed to go up when the r520 and xbox360 are launched. The fact that it's low now is an indication that it's a good time to buy stock, not that ATI is in financial trouble.

And because it is low now, quite a few investors will be buying stock and it will rise again!

And a higher price/share doesn't really mean anything either. MS closed at $27/share while Apple closed at $43. Which stock would you rather hold?

Tell that to ex ENRON employees. They had their entire futures ripped out from under them in a day. The Stock exchange should move to Vegas where it belongs.

If they were stupid enough that they didn't diversify their investments, and instead put it into a single company stock, they don't get an ounce of pitty from me.
