I read Rollo's posts here and I get a bad impression of whatever it is AEG does. I read ChrisRay's, Chalnoth's, and Ailuros' posts at B3D and I get a good impression of whatever it is AEG does. That's the crux of this issue, IMO. I suggest you read the similar thread at B3D, in the Industry subforum, started by geo. You can read the whole thing to understand how that forum felt about AEG as we knew it, or skip to ChrisRay's post on p.21 to see how that forum responded to AEG as we now know it.

I appreciate your suggestion. However, I did read some of the posts in B3D thread including ChrisRay's post a few days ago. I still don't like AEG mainly because of the "behind the scenes dealing in our forum". Maybe if they disclosed all their members I will feel better about them since I would know who's opinion may be "influenced" or not.

I don't see how banning people will fix the problem other than maybe satisfying some peoples desire for vengence for what ever rollo has done to them. So if this thread is only about trashing and banning rollo then I guess I no longer have anything else to say.

Gosh, I think I may have to agree with Rollo about something --this thread has just "jumped the shark".

Tho I think that's partly the mods responsibility for taking their time on a resolution.

I'd like to think that the delay means that Boy Wonder himself is getting involved in discussing this issue with NV and satisfying himself as to the real character of the intent here and future guidelines. I use that name affectionately as I'm nearly twice his age and have been reading him since the last millenium when it was particularly apt.

I have to say a word in defense of my somewhat obnoxious but generally very good moderator friend, Vysez. He was using sarcasm, which any of the regulars over there would have recognized from him immediately. The implication from the other member was that there was some skullduggery going on, and V basically just called him on the implication of what he was suggesting to show how ridiculous the suggestion was. He was not in any way "copping" to being paid by AEG. Puh-lease.

Any rate, I'm outta here guys. So long and thanks for all the fish! Good luck in your efforts to make this place a little more genteel, if not quite B3D-like in tone! These people who whine about the shimmering on 7800GTXs, seem oddly quiet about the lack of SM3, EXR HDR, soft stencil shadows, 32bit precision, displacement mapping FP blending, Linux performance, OGL performance, and gaming performance in general compared to 7800s on their cards. They'll tell you all day long about how they could never have a card with a faint shimmer at the mip boundaries I never even noticed till I looked for it though. Hmmmmmmm

Kudos to nVidia for fixing it.

I think Rollo's newly revealed relationship with Nvidia though AEG does much to explain the attitude of his comments such as the one quoted above.

Nice find. Rollo's first post mentions his 'buddy' at Nvidia for giving him the new driver. The same 'buddy' who told him Nvidia was going to release a purevideo fix.
If there was nothing wrong with his relationship with Nvidia, none of the AEG members would have to resort to deception in the first place.

Edit: If you look up BFGs history, he was adamantly flaming the GeforceFX and arguing with "the anandtech satan" himself about it.

Creig, don't hold anyone to this standard. It takes a lot of cuts to call someone out for being out of line. I am 45 and it takes time to build that kind of cajones.

And if Rollo ends up getting banned, I will take it upon myself to perform this great service to AT and make sure that he is never able to start another account. Any time I see a new account that sounds like Rollo, I will immediately go to FI and report him to the mods to ensure that his ban lasts a lifetime. It's only fitting that Rollo should get the same treatment he doled out on others.

I only hope that I will be held up as a hero for my service to AT, as Rollo was.

and i think the poster was comparing nazi propaganda to AEG's, not to ATF although he did call their integrity into question along with B3D's. 😉

Anyway, yes - it is amazing that AT has allowed this free discussion. i know they will give us a 'ruling' as promised. . . when they are ready to and will not get caught up in the controversy here . . . they are also giving members a chance to "vent". . . . these kind of things take time.

there have been times when the integrity of ATF has been called into question before - when we had to wait - and Anand himself and his entire team has always emerged with the highest reputation.

I'm in agreement that a lifetime ban on Rollo would be the correct punishment.

To answer the inevitable nVidiot reply of "punishment for what crime?", it would not be for his association with AEG, it would be for his blatant lying, obfuscation, and misrepresentation of himself. He's done a great disservice to this community for these things, irregardless of his affiliations.

I would like to see a very strong response from AT on this issue, as I personally look to these forums for truthful, helpful information that I won't get from 'official' nVidia OR ATI forums and support sites.

Give a brother some credit... I think I discovered him once or twice first and a few people (ahem, Ronnn, Morph) told me I was making unfounded claims. Like 2 weeks later "Teh Turtle" was banned.
