Well, CCC is bad for its size. I don't see how you can say its not that bad when It stays in the back ground and will have an impact on performance. Yes, I have proved in the thread that it does uses unnecessary memory(physical) and increase load time in games because it is actually working when it stays in memory. I don't understand why you wouldn't just tell people to use ATI tool which is much more elegant.

Why would you want to lock the only thread in the entire forum that is addressing the issue? With such a hot topic, you're going to get some flaming, it's the natue of the incident. Personally, I don't see how this is over with 2 members still undisclosed and active within the community, projecting themselves as mere enthusiasts.

My guesses:
1. No specific policy against user groups, which are probably fairly common. I've known of several people over the years who have received free hardware.

2. Opens the floodgates for 8,098,123 PMs "I know this guy must be a shill- look what he said!"

3. How can you tell who is in the groups, unless they come forward like I did?

4. Banning people in hardware developer's user groups when they also provide your site with it's engineering samples has got to strain relations at best.

It's probably not as easy of a question as "These 50 ATI fans want this guy gone because he wasn't 100% forthright about his connections".

Is it a hardware developer user group or a hardware developers marketing group?

I can't imagine Nvidia would stop the flow of test samples to Anandtech for the banning of one rabid, out of control, marketing rep.

AEG is not a user group, it's a PR Marketing firm whose goals include seeding message boards with people who mirror their sponsoring company's viewpoints.

Again, AEG is not a "hardware developer's user group". It's a PR Marketing firm whose only goal is to increase the sales figures of their employer. And besides, unless nVidia doesn't want one of the largest online hardware websites to review only ATI products, I highly doubt nVidia would break off connections simply because a couple of people employed by one of their hired PR firms got kicked out. You aren't THAT important to nVidia.

I see quite a few nVidia fans who're just as upset as ATI fans that AEG has slipped at least one of their employees into our midst. This goes beyond ATI vs nVidia.

Folks, on the OT subject that has crept in, CCC with the ATI drivers and the ATI WDM driver are <25MB on my system. Can't figure out where 70MB came from unless someone added .Net to the mix. I need .Net for other things too, so I already had it loaded. In fact, that makes sense. I bet the original report of 70MB included the .Net executables. That would be a little over-reporting. Most of you may not need it, but I do for Visual Studio and Expression.

For the first time in a long time, we agree. I don't think I'm "important" to nVidia at all.

My point was that usually people who do business together don't make off the cuff decisions that may look like they disaprove of each others business model- it just isn;t done.

For AT to make a quick blanket statement "We ban all nVidia user group members from our forums because we question the ethics of the group" likely isn't going to happen.

A question of business courtesy, has nothing to do with me.

forums.nvidia.com is an nVidia user group, AEG is a PR Marketing firm. There's a BIIIIGGGGG difference between the two.

I can tell you that four sold in the last four days on Ebay for between $739 - $830..

The point was that if he wanted to see what the 7900GTX was, and he needed a gaming card for the interim, the 512 GTX was likely a more stable investment that he could sell prior to 7900 launch.

Nothing more.
