That was more a compliment to your dad than an "attack" Ronnn.

You see, I started by saying the "issues" here are trivial, and that no sane person could get worked up over this.

By posting a pretend quote of your dad telling you that he taught you better sense than this, I was implying you didn't learn what he had to teach you and that he'd probably be amazed you even care about me hiding the difference between getting a few video cards free from a ad agency, or discounted from the maker.

If you want, feel free to have your dad PM me if you feel he's been somehow slighted, I'd be happy to discuss it with him.

(unless I'm banned for this vicious
on him)

I'm convinced there is no point too far beyond the boundaries of reason you guys won't reach for in your "important mission" to make me post elsewhere.

If that doesn't violate the TOS, I don't know what does.

It's a miracle that you wonder why people don't like you, Rollo. It's not a "minority", as some would have you believe, either. If Mr. Burns took what Smithers said as the gospel, he'd probably have quite the ego.

Unfortunately you're not Mr. Burns and keysplayr only acts like Smithers. He seems convinced though, if that means anything to you.

It's pretty obvious that you don't know what violates TOS SickBeast, because here I sit.

Didn't he and Keys both "vow" to leave these forums for good?

I know in the case of Keys that doesn't carry much weight. Since he has made the declaration of "I shall never post in the video forum again" about a half a dozen times.

Yes but people begged him to come back

This forum just needs an ignore feature.

Where is YOUR evidence that they give out hardware for evaluation purposes?

If the mods feel I've violated TOS, I'm sure they will ban me.

If not, I suggest we all try to peacefully co-exist.

Being angry at each other only benefits whoever makes your favorite antacid.

This is a pretty good example of a phenomenon I notice more and more in this country:
As we become more prosperous and worrying about the necessities of life is unnecessary, we associate ourselves with causes that are laughable at best.

You have people protesting fishing, because it may hurt the fish.

You have people destroying fur coats because dead rodents once owned the fur.

You have people protesting eating meat because it hurts the animals to be killed.

And now some protest video card user groups that may be designed in the hopes users of engineering samples may post about the use. If you told a guy in a country where you have to worry about your next meal your big concern these days is whether or not a video card manufacturer was unethical in giving cards to enthusiasts and that you had actually spent time protesting this, they would laugh for a month.

If you told somebody who looked at video cards like any other consumer good, say hammers or clock radios, that you are concerned someone's posts may have been influenced by a free video card, they would probably laugh for a while.

The problem with this thread, and all this uproar, is at the bottom of it are very small issues that mean very little in the world and are subject to interpretation.

You're absolutely right . . . ethics really don't matter any more.

So don't start preaching if i decide to RMA my self-burned out, modified and aftermarket cooled, Unlocked and o/c'd 9800xt to RMA to ATi for for a new one.

Since I'm the only one who knows among the three of us, I guess it's a moot point.

Anyway, I know you see this as your "one big shot" to get revenge on me Creig, but you should really concentrate on yourself rather than others.

Whether I post here, elsewhere, nowhere- my life isn't significantly impacted and you've won nothing?

Geez dude, my 9500 comments to you were long ago- let it go. This little vendetta is not healthy for you- maintaining your stockpile of quotes, the watchful eye on my doings, the PMs to the mods.

You think I care about you that much? Or these boards?

You're supposed to be an adult Creig. Grown men don't actually care whether someone got a few free video cards to try.

Even if you "win" here, you've lost.

You screwed up the edit you made. After admitting a "PR firm promises to generate PR" you obviously meant above that ". . . now some protest PR user groups that may be designed in that the hopes that users of engineering samples may post about the use."

It's fairly clear cut. A video card firm hires PR firm to advertise, not to get feedback from engineering samples. PR firms also get hired to spin.

but you are still here . . . so the "discussion" goes on . . .

you "old" comments are just proof that you are a devisive shill still trolling ATF even though you are attempting to present the "new" Rollo.

Give it up. Your agenda is clear from all your posts. We all see thru your BS.

Why should I care what the original hope or intent is?

They give me cards and software to try. They let me attend the press conferences, give me access to NDA info.

In return, they ask that I report problems with the beta software, my general opinions of the hardware, and end user concerns about driver issues from the boards.

I imagine they like it that I post my benchmarks and experiences with the hardware, but no has ever said to me "Post some benchmarks" or "Post bad news about ATI".

Seems a fair trade to me? If they ever want the stuff back I'll throw it in a box and ship it, consider it time well spent.

You guys just don't get it:
There's no great conspiracy here.

Oh well. I'm sure the world will survive the outcome either way.

Oh yeah, in all of the reputable review sites, they will thank the sponsors that provided the card, whether it was supplied by the manufacturer or a reseller. Likewise, when manufacturers hand out gear at competitions or contests, it's always clearly stated that they're sponsoring the event. They advertise that they've given out the hardware. Part of the rules are always that those that win / receive items agree to let their name / likeness be used in advertising.

The AEG situation stinks because it was hidden. If you want to compare AEG to someone, try the US government. The US government secretly paid one of those talking heads to hype No Child Left Behind. Scandalous enough to make news -- propaganda is frowned upon. Or how the US government has secretly paid for positive articles to be written in Arabic press. Again making news, and though there's some confusion, it'll likely be stopped. I don't want to drag the thread too OT, but those are both items that have made the national news in the past year or so.

When some politician gives a stump speech at a fundraiser, it's not news. Everyone knows the participants, and everyone knows that money is changing hands. Now if that same politician secretly met with someone of an unknown identity, if they talk about some secret matters or reach some secret agreement, and money secretly changed hands, that would be a huge scandal. Trying to come clean after the fact just makes it look like a coverup.

Well this thread is still open for everyone to see that you are a returning Troll and self-admitted liar with a new agenda to gain respectability again . . .

not gonna happen

your credibility is shot here . . . and respect is a thing of your past

and 'us 20' will be here to remind everyone . . . no, the world hasn't ended - yet.

Couldn't have explained it better myself, well said Loopy :) If Rollo is banned I will miss the threads from time to time. While I don't post often and a lot of Rollo's topics on ATI are pure FUD... the flame fests were most entertaining :p I could watch those flame fests for days and would often show some of the more witty remarks to my wife.

Most things that you say sounds stupid and always have a spin or a twist of the true meanning. Tha'ts why so many people dislike you. But I guess you don't mind because you're a troll that just likes to annoy people. It's really sad, if I were you I would go somewhere else after seeing how so many people feel towards you.

TOS are obviously set aside for nVidia shills like you because AT enjoys the relationship they have with your parent company. No relationship with nVidia would mean no advance previews of nVidia graphics cards or chipsets.

Besides, you seem to generate a ton of hits which I'm sure doesn't bother the people making money off this site.
