Do you even sit back and read your own posts before you click the submit button?
You should be ashamed of yourself. You're either brainwashed or just joking. Because you can't be serious.

I know you will never agree with me even though I make a valid point (just your nature)
and thats fine, but you can't sit there and agree with Morph. You just can't possibly!
Say it isn't so.

But you didn't make any point. You didn't give any rebuttal to what I said, just some trash talk.

If what you said had any merit at all and wasn't all in your imagination, I might have made some comments on it. However, it was barely even worth reading save finding out just how fanatical you are. Impressive.

Then he'll either:

a) buy dual 512mb cards, or
b) insist that no games need 512mb yet

Or

c) he may just keep his SLI setup and add on a nice dual core CPU and say the 512 MB SLI setup is awesome too.

Ding ding ding ding ding!
We have a WINNER!

LOL

I don't care if I have the "best" as some have suggested, because I never will? I'm not wealthy, some rich guy will always have a phase change or some other cool hardware above mine.

You buy what you can within your budget and be happy with it if you're smart- because unless you're Bill Gates, someone will always have better.

Yeah, he might, cause he's actually lagging behind me in the cpu department... :Q

I don't know what you have, but I ordered a X2 4600+ last week. (not because I was lagging behind anyone- wanted to check out the beta driver improvements- and I always upgrade my cpu annually anyway)

This was to be expected. With a 512 6800U, and the X1800XT/XL being 512meg. Many people, myself included, thought it would happen very soon. Good news for all.

edit,

You need another 512 of ram.. you're not running dual channel. :(

Above the trash talk. Good news!

Hehe, all you're showing me is that you're kinda immature and a rebel with twisted cause.
Enjoy!
EDIT: I don't care if your 125 years old either. Age does not maturity make.

A few comments - first I was a very strong ATI fan. The 9700 was a killer card. But the 6800 and then 7800 have won me back over. I was pissed for a long time about Nvidia's treatment of 3DFX but I seem to have gotten over it.

Secondly, 512 MB in a graphics card seemed so ridiculous the past few years. I wonder how many wasted money on 512MB and then never really used it? Probably most of them sold....however, now I see that Windows Vista is requiring 256MB. That got me thinking about how I frequently and easily alt-tab out of some games to tweak my Nostromo setting or scan gamefaqs while playing a game. Suddenly, 512MB does not seem like a waste of money any longer.

Thirdly, I'm very pleased with eVGA's one-time upgrade program. You can upgrade once in 90 days. I bought the absolute best -a 7800GTX KO and I'll upgrade that one time in 90 days, I assume to 512MB unless something even better is out, before I go SLI.

This is known as "being sensible". You should have opinions about pieces of hardware, not bizarre notions of affiliation with a company that doesn't know you exist.

I've decided its just better to ignore the noise - as really the game is to get you into a flamefest. Is just feeding off your emotion -- keep them for yourself.

Actually, immediate availability at launch tells you something. It will be available when it is launched, DUH. Think 7800 for example, when it was launched, you could purchase it. That is called availability.
So, they are saying that:
a) 512MB versions of 7800 will be launched.
b) when this happens, you can purchase one.
I fail to see the confusion in this logic, and who cares when it comes out, 512MB is not really nescessary. Heck, I am getting by with my 9600XT, but then again I mostly care gameplay, not getting the highest framerate in buggy crap games such as BF2.

You're not understanding the point here. Since I have no clue about when the launch is, I have no clue about when it will be available.

Haha, availablility at launch. Big fricken deal. All that means is you wait to announce (aka launch) the product until they are already in the retail channel and available for purchase. It's not some miraculous feat, although Nvidia sure seems to have you people thinking it is. The truth is with a product like this where the only thing changing is the amount of memory, they've already essentially paper launched it as soon as they leak to the press that it's going to be coming out.

To summarize, having "availability at launch" doesn't necessarily mean that a company is bringing products to market any quicker, it just means that they are delaying the formal announcement of those products (what we are calling "launching") until they are actually available. Personally, I'd rather hear all I can about a product as soon as possible, even if it means I have to wait a while to buy it, at least this helps me plan my purchase. So while Nvidia is eliminating paper launching and making you feel that they're doing you some great service, it just means you don't get the full inside scoop on upcoming products in advance like you used to.

And exactly who is you people? If you were trying to call be an Nvidia fanboi, note the part of my post that I bolded. Also, you are saying you would rather someone tell you a date something would be available, even if they do not know in what volume? You are trying to say waiting to release a product until it is available to buy in quantity is a bad thing? I guess if you like to pay above MSRP, or get raped on fleabay trying to get your hands on bleeding edge hardware, to each his own. (again noting the part of my post that is bolded, I am far from bleeding edge there :p)

Why paying a premium of much more $$ for a 512mb L2 cache dualie when you can get a 4400+ with 1mb l2 cache for much less?
I know you don't like to o/c but trust me, even w/o o/c @ the 2.4(which 4400+ has it for fun with stock vcore and 1-2C change in cpu temp), trust me 1mb L2 cache is much more useful for dualies.
Just my 2cents

That's false.

COD2 is one game that might already benefit from 512MB. Especially in SLI situations where you're running super high resolutions.

However it is true, many games if not most most likely will see no benefit but it is the future. And a 512bit memory architecture won't make or break the usefulness of 512MB, its whether or not the games can take advantage of it.

I have a 128MB card and ran the demo at maxed out settings and it was fine. For me, no game has stressed video memory like Doom 3 did.(plus, COD2 is being developed for consoles, so likely it will aim at 256MB or 512MB memory requirements in total)
