Ok, this is my current problem. Shortly before the Direct X 8 release I bought a new HD and more RAM. I got a Western Digital 20.5GB HD and got 128MB 100mhz chip. I now have 192MB RAM, AMD-K6 2 400mhz, 20.5GB HD, Yamaha OPL3 Sound Card, Nvidia TNT2 Model 64, Asus ALi Motherboard. I had no problems before I formatted my harddrive. I formatted my harddrive and installed Direct X7a. No problems so far. Then Direct X8 came out and I started having problems with my games that used the 3d card. At first I thought that it was just one of my games (EverQuest, they just did a patch for DX7a required and it started freezeing). After a while I started noticing that all my 3d games were freezeing after a little bit of playing. I've done everything that I know of doing to fix this problem, except for reformatting and installing DX7a.

If anyone can help me with this problem I would appreciate it. Also a friend of mine said that it could be that the 3d card was overheating and causing it to freeze. Any suggestions would be a great help.

Thanks

I have the same OEM card, o/c to 147mhz and P3-450, have D7a and downloaded & installed D8 with no problem. The freezing stuff, used to experienced that, I think it got solved by newer card driver. What's yours u're using? I'm using Detonator 3 from nvidia.

I am using the Detonator 3 drivers also from nvidia.com. I've also tried using the beta drivers found at 3dchipsets.com. No luck. I am very puzzled at this problem.

Thanks
