Nvidia temperature monitoring

I haven't been able to find a thread addressing this so I thought I'd ask. I have an eVGA 6600GT and have heard the Nvidia drivers have built in temperature monitoring. However, under the GeForce 6600GT tab -> additional properties, there is no option for monitoring the GPU's temp.

I have had several driver cersions installed, including 76.44, 71.84, and currently, 71.89. None had the temp monitor. Does this feature need to be activated somehow? Is there a required BIOS update? (current: 5.43.02.57.08)

Someone mentioned in another thread, that a bios upgrade is needed, it works on my 6800U and my pals crappy 5800 256MB non ultra.

According to eVGA there is no new BIOS update. Did you use an Nvidia bios update?

Try evga then nvidia, make sure its same match if its certain tv chip etc, but you should have nvidia internal tv chip, it should be fine

My ASUS V9999GT/TD/256M/A (AGP 6800GT) doesn't give me temperatures in the NVidia control panel either.

To see my temps I have to:

Install the ASUS "enhanced driver" (works fine with NVidia reference drivers)
Install the ASUS "smart doctor" tool (a bogus but functional tweak/monitor tool)

Kind of pisses me off that ASUS would resort to this just to get their name on the display properties.
