ok, well what if you have a controller? I like the idea of an xperia play type thing, but wouldn't it be great to have your steam account linked to your phone in a way that you could download and play all your games on it?
Yeah, I was actually pretty excited for the Xperia Play when it was launched buy Sony totally dropped the ball on that. I was hoping for common games across Android, PSP/Vita and PS3/4 through the Playstation Mobile platform, but nope, just a pitiful selection of games that you can get through the Play Store anyway. I genuinely wanted to make the Xperia Play my next smartphone back in 2011, but it was just such a disappointment that I didn't bother.
If someone else like Google did make another big push for the Xperia Play format (slideout game controls), then I'd be quite interested; there's definitely the potential for that style of device to be awesome, so long as there's enough momentum behind it that the software library builds up. Xperia Play just seemed unloved, like Sony chucked it out the door with no support. (I strongly suspect that the console division didn't want it stealing the Vita's thunder- internal politics usually plays a big role in this sort of thing.)
EDIT: Sorry, I got a bit off topic there. My point was this, that silicon alone isn't going to turn Android into a games console. The software ecosystem needs to be there, or it will be about as successful as the Shield, the Ouya, or the Xperia Play. The hardware isn't really the tricky part at this stage.
