That was a pretty good idea IMO.

If there is one thing I think nvidia has a done a superb job on it's their pcbs (mostly) and coolers. I heard AMD has only used sleeve bearing fans, nvidia has always used Delta ball bearing fans.

Link.

I'm interested to see how much the GTX 780 will cost... I'm guessing $800 and that it will never come down since they'll sell out anyway.

I wish they had not crippled the performance of the GK104, but as long as patents are around, there will be very little price or quality competition.

Pretty sure nVidia hasn't ALWAYS used delta ball bearing fans. I recall losing a GeForce 2GTS, GeForce 2MX, and GeForce 4MX to stuck fans.

Here is to hoping the gtx770 could at least best the 7970GE and maybe run the same msrp.

Nvidia are out of their minds if they attempt to sell this gimped titan aka gtx780 for anything higher then $600.

I don't agree with you about the PCBs as Nvidia has disappointingly cheaped out with some of their high end cards but their coolers have generally been a step above AMD's.

I am still thinking the 770 could be gk110 just like the 780. it makes no sense to have the same large pcb, huge cooler, and 6/8 power connectors for gk104 as they will have for gk110.

I can beg to differ on this one. AMD uses ball bearing on their blower coolers just like Nvidia, also AMD's 7970 PCB is more robust than the Titan actually. AMD uses a CHiL 8228 on the 7950 and 7970 and the Titan uses a cost cutting OnSemi NCP4206 which lacks certain monitoring features. The Titan blower is definitely a very quiet and efficient blower fan, one of the best I have seen and the Radeon's fan is louder, but not any less reliable.

GK104 on the Titan PCB minus 2 power phases and a 6+6 pin

^ Facts ftw.

NV has cheaped out hardcore on everything except the titan/690 fan, shroud, and heatsink. Dunno what rock OP has been hiding under. :p

Agreed. Only point to have that much power allocation to GK104 is if the vram could clock up and beyond 7500mhz. On a gtx680, anything after 1200mhz or so has very little gains due to lack of memory bandwidth.

no it was said to be 6/8 from the guy who leaked the pictures. I think there is almost no chance thats going to be a gtx770 with gk104 on the same pcb and cooler as gk110 Titan and gtx780.

Give up your source, mate. Don't take the heat on this on your own. We'll start posting about exploding PCB's soon. ;)

Why? Titan is sold out, it's $1k, and the 780 should be like 83-93% (5/6 the ROPs and bandwidth, 13/14 the number of CUDA cores) as fast. I wouldn't be surprised if the GTX780 is $850. I don't think it will be cheaper than than $800 and it sure as hell won't be as cheap as $600

What does patents have to do with this at all? The problem isn't patents or anything like that, its simply a lack of competition. There's just two players in the discrete gaming graphics market.
