Nvidia Surround Gaming Setup

I want to use 2D Nvidia Surround for gaming. I have a GeForce GTX 760 4GB made by Gigabyte. It has two DVI outputs, 1 HDMI out and 1 display port out. I have just ordered 3 new monitors which are DVI only. So 2 screens would be connected to the DVIs. What about the third? Should I use an HDMI to DVI cable or use a display port to DVI adapter? I have read confusing information on using the display port adapter about sometimes needing an active adapter instead of a passive one. If I use an HDMI to DVI cable would any such cable work or is there active/passive adapter issues there also?

Actually, you're right, I didn't notice that. So what would be the best way to get these screens working with my card for surround gaming? There is a lot of info out there and I find it confusing.

DVI + DVI + DP should work fine.

You could just use two DVI-D and one Display port to run those 3 monitors.
It's all done in the Nvidia control panel and quite easy. There is bezel correction as well which can create the effect of looking out of a fuselage or a window and for keeping lines in perspective. It's all right there in the driver.

Now, the matter of a single GTX760 running a gaming resolution of approximately 5040x1050 (will vary slightly for bezel correction).
The 760, depending on the game you are playing and settings used, may have some horsepower issues. In other words, you'll most likely have to turn some settings down for the single 760 to keep framerates up as it's pushing 3 times as many pixels. You may have to go SLI or upgrade your card depending on the games you play and settings and what you are satisfied or dissatisfied with.

Okay, thanks for that. I did read somewhere online that the DP was just for the extra 4th screen if you have it, used for chat etc. That is probably why I am confused. That info was probably out of date or just plain wrong though.

I realize that and I was prepared to lower the details a bit. Hopefully it will still be a worthwhile experience though. Does Skyrim support 3 screens?

You are going to want to use a program called Wide Screen Fixer.

Skyrim has some issues with Surround, namely the menus are stretched. I found it not worth it to use it.

I cant view the link because of the redirect, however make sure to check if your card is using regular DP or mini DP. Some cards have mini DP connections, not sure on yours. If it is about the size of HDMI then it is normal.

A single GTX760 should run all three but frame rate will most likely be slow even with 3 1680x1050 monitors. I ran surround well with 3 1920 x 1080 monitors using 2 GTX670s in SLI. Just understand that you are likely to have low frame rates on some games unless you eliminate all the eye candy.
