Correct. The SMBus is a separate driver in the unified driver package.
The NVIDIA SW IDE Driver is the one that people constantly complain about. Back in the nForce & nForce2 era there was an issue where the IDE drives were being listed as SCSI devices when you installed the SW IDE driver. Some people had problems with their burning software recognizing the drive. However that issue was fixed a long time ago.
FWIW I've been selecting "YES" to install it for about 4 years now on a multitude of systems. It is an option, and the MS IDE driver will work just fine for those that are paranoid.
