In an article on THG, there is a quote from Nvidia

"We are not ready to give up the performance crown and out next generation product will take performance to another new level when it is released and continue Nvidia's as the performance leader."

They sound like they are ready, but they have some ground to make up, and some faults to fix, but hopefully the race will continue on. Currently I would buy an ATI card if I bought a new one, but I like having many options...bring it on....

Of course they would say that, I'm not biased toward ati or geforce because I've owned a bunch of both their cards, but any company would have a PR statement to that effect. What are they supposed to say, yes, our card is super-expensive but gives about the same performance as a card that is $150 cheaper, so we got pwned.

all they have to do is release their cheap 80 dollar direct x9 part.

most people don't spend 300 dollars on a video card. if nvidia kicks ass on the low end it'll be fine.

I think some people forget the 3D video gaming market is not just about the top end ,the middle and budget sector are more important sales wise.

nVIDIA Are loaded and even if the do lose sales from the FX they have the nForce chip and mid range geforces to fall back on, plus share wise they are the market leader by miles...its good that ATI have finally had some time at the top its just makes the competition a little less biased and much more fun :D

NVIDIA has NV35 up and running and it is already significantly better than the lackluster NV30; although we're not sure if it will be able to outperform the Radeon 9800 Pro, at this point we can say that from what we've seen, NVIDIA has regained some of our confidence.

From the 9800 Pro Review....

its all about OEM sales (not that OEMs want to put a loud @ss part in their boxes)

They've already given up the crown...and the same hype was given to NV30.

Or what if they really do turn around and make some improvements? It'll only help the end user. In my case, I'm game for ATI or Nvidia since I don't need an AIW a n ymore si nce I'm getting a capture card. The day I go to get a new card, which ever can give me the most performance with AA and AF for $200 or less gets my sale.

One other thing to remember, competition is good even if you love ATI till death, you still want Nvidia to do good so that prices stay low and the companies have reason to give variety in performance, price, etc.

One thing for sure Nvidia will try harder to be top dog again and if you think ATi will find it easy to stay at the top for a long time then you`re on the same crack as well ;).

Look at history,Nvidia was top dog & now ATi is riding high as top dog, conclusion is both companies will have a fight on their hands.

I would think it would be more sensible to say both companies will probably have good and bad products down the road and each will take turns at top position just like it has happened now.

Remember neither company is perfect and there`s room for improvement on both sides.

In the end we win either way.

:)

true as that might be, in X(number of months from now) the high end becomes the middle and budget sector.....

Remember the nVidia article where they said that XBox sales make up about 20% (or was it 25%) of their profit? I'd hate to see what happens to nVidia if ATi gets the deal for XBox2 like they just did with Nintendo's next console (assuming that the PC video card market is still this close of a fight).

Nvidia has actually been outselling ATI, in graphic cards sales overall, not by as much as it was a year ago though, but I'm amazed that they do still sell more! Nvidia's GeForce FX was the worst attempt of building a graphics card I think I've seen since the Voodoo 5 6000, only the FX was worse i guess.

I dont even think nVidia really gives a dam about "speed crown" when they have a large proportion of the OEM market to sell to :)

Spoken like a loyal nVidiot! If they didn't care, they wouldn't be rushing NV35 out the door
