well sorry RobsTV but I already mentioned why I couldn't post a full set of 32bit results. besides, the default bench for 3DMARK2000 is 1024x7648@16bits.
philosphically the card pursue different design goals.
3dfx mainly went for image quality on today's and yesterday's games and a few effects. Anandtech and other big sites didn't respect it because they were tied to the idea of fps. but other smaller websites like the Voodoo a lot and so did most users. just goes to show... if I get fed up with Voodoo5 I would go for the GTS tho.

Taz like I posted on Rage3d:

The problem with Villagemark is that it doesn't even closely reflect what is going on in games. Most newer game engines use a Tree Based method that elimates a lot of overdraw. Games like Q3 and UT use this method as do newer games and 3dMark2000. PowerVR made this benchmark for one reason. To create an extreme amount of overdraw that you will never see to show off the Kyro and Neon. That is it. You will notice that the Kyro scores the best in this, yet when you look how it scores in games it is slower than the Radeon and GTS. Why because there are more hidden polygons and textures in this demo then visible ones. Sounds like something totally usefull for games, a bunch of hidden detail that you can't see.

Villagemark is nothing more than a benchmark to make tiling look good. 3dMark2000 is pratical and is a game engine, not a demo. Max Pain is using the MAX FX engine and is currently in developement. How many games are coming out using the engine... oh wait that engine doesn't have any AI or physics... so I guess it doesn't represent anything at all.

Games are the only usefull benchmark for testing game performance, but that's just stating the obvious.

BTW, Max Payne was cancelled a couple months ago.

Hey Now my 3Dmark was clearly at 5005! I demand a recount :p

OK seriously, 3D# is a great tool for compairing the same video card.
Comparing other cards to one anouther using it is useless.
They are nothing more than bungholelio marks using them that way.

The big question is how many of those scores are people using settings they would never use in real life. I know for sure my 5005 score was.:D

In real use I keep my fsaa X4 and everything else is set for high quality rendering and my score is around 3000 but so what,my Flight Sim 2000 never drops below 30fps 1024x768 32bit color while running FSTraffic, the net,2 AV's,firewall and ZA.

Its pretty comical that this is an a55kicking contest(3D#2k)where all contestants not named NVidia are requierd to tie both shoes together.:p

RobsTV -

well stated bub. Couldn't have said it better myself, I agree 100%

as far as Max Payne using the engine (IBMer), this is true, but the Max Payne developers themselves said that the T&L engine in 3dMark2k is NOTHING like what they are using.

So it's really not indicative of anything other than 3dMark2000 performance.

damn good looking demo tho.

<< The only thing that differentiates the GTS from the Pro is the higher clocked RAM. Although I do have my GTS clocked at 200/400 like a Pro card >>

Yea, and having higher clocked RAM would result in a performance change...I would think that there would be a different category. Oh well.
