nVidia SLI question

Does anyone know for sure? Will the 6800/6800GT/6800U all support SLI, or is this something they are reserving for the top end cards only?

From what reviewers have said, ALL 6800s that have PCI-E will support it.

AGP versions of the cards will never support SLI.

The core will support SLI; it's up to Nvidia if they want to enable it though.

Also, the board needs to have the SLI connector. They certainly *implied* that all PCI-E 6800s will have SLI support, but it's really up to the board manufacturers to implement it, since NVIDIA doesn't make graphics cards.

Well, CLEARLY, if someone on teh intarw3b said it, it must be true! 😛

It's quite possible that many of the 6800 cards *are* being produced in the same place -- this is nothing new (for instance, Sapphire produces, or at least used to produce, most of the "Built By ATI" R300 cards.) However, I haven't seen anything to indicate that *NVIDIA* is actually producing them (as opposed to a third party manufacturer), or that they are actually all built with identical hardware.

SLI is "teh ub3r-l33t" so you can bet that support will be advertised right on the box.

Worst case scenario: ask people here what make/model of boards support it.
