>G800 is going to be out in Q4
Could be. As much as I'd like to see companies hitting their targets, the truth is it doesn't always happen (see: 3dfx).
Thanks for the clarification on the OpenGL issue. It took Matrox a good long time to get OpenGL support for the G200, didn't it? I thought they had similar problems with the G400. That's what I get for not playing enough QUAKE.

I think that you missed my point. When I said that the path to irrelevance is long and slow, I mean LONG AND SLOW. It could take years. Yes, companies like Matrox and ATi have lucrative markets outside of the mainstream, but these are markets that companies like NVIDIA are trying to work their way into as well. It will, IMO, take a long, long time to penetrate those markets to a considerable degree. But it begins with a very visible misstep (or series of missteps).
I have high hopes for Matrox because I find that their cards provide the best quality 2D picture at high resolution, by far. And I expect the vidcard market to remain a 4/5 player game for now (tossing 3DLabs into the mix) and for the forseeable future. But it's imperative for companies like Matrox and ATi, who seem the most stable at present, not to take that position for granted.
