I don't think there's going to be any RTX enabled games available at launch though.

My question is, why are they even bothering with 3rd party manufacturers anymore?
Nvidia has proven they know how to make a board and a cooler.
I'm surprised they still sell the chips to others.

If AIBs realy only make 3% margin, it's more a question of why do they bother? That really isn't a sustainable margin.

Sure it can be. Exxon usually has margins well below 10%. It hovers around 6-7%. That is double, but, you can be a very healthy company with low margins.

That said, we are already seeing some companies close because of tariffs because their margins are so tight.

When talking about product margin, like GPUs as mentioned in that GN video, those are GROSS margins.

Exxons Gross margins are typically over 20%.

3% gross margin is not sustainable. That's a business that is losing money. AMD is usually losing money anytime their gross margins get much under 35%.

And make the same mistake 3dfx did? When you buy from AIB's Nvidia still makes money as if you bought from them. The strain of manufacturing goes to the AIB, not Nvidia, freeing them to focus on just designing their chips.

Those margins are probably for a MSRP 499/699/999 price points.

We are likely to see most cards being in the 550-600/650-800/1100-1200 which should push margins into the double digits comfortably.

This is similar to the Vega launch where the true based price was 50-100 above the lowest MSRP because the base price had no margin in it.
 
in that Tom Peterson Hot Hardware video he said they want the FE to the best or pinnacle of the line. AIB's can't be happy with them unless they are selling chips to the AIB's for a lot less then we buy cards for.

Yea with tax that's close to $1400. Really need to see benchmarks before plunking down cash like that. Either way it would be overkill for me at 1440p.

Oh and you're charged immediately after checkout so it's not like you can cancel after benches come in later. But Amazon has pretty awesome returns for those looking to preorder.
 
So how do Titan X and Titan Z compare to a 1080TI ? There are some of those for around $700 on Amazon.

Edit 5760 cuda cores for the Z ! for $740 shipped, I may have to bend.

Edit2: I just did some googling, they both look pitiful for some reason.

Titan Z is a dual GPU Kepler card. There are three different "Titan X" cards; GTX Titan X(Maxwell), Titan X(Pascal, 3584 cuda cores), Titan Xp(Pascal, 3840 cuda cores)

Makes no sense they'd charge you immediately for something with a estimated ship date of 3-4 weeks away. Maybe a person could view it as made to order to soften the blow. I guess i'll be the go to gpu for the $3000 and up gaming builds. Anything less and the E-peen would shrink.

Well that's what it said on the evga site yea that's weird that they will do that.

Asus is supposed to come up with one that will cost $1500.

You mean because of the older reference cooler? The Maxwell Titan X wasn't that pitiful. When put on water and overclocked it's between a 1070 Ti and a 1080 which isn't bad unless you are gaming at 4K. Definitely not worth any more than $250 from a performance perspective today though. The Kepler Titan X on the other hand...well that DP performance might be worth something.
