Yeah they said the 2070 is faster than the Titan Xp but I know it's faster at Raytracing obviously. How much faster is it on games that actually exist today? There must be some serious improvements to the SMs for that to happen. Or it's untrue.

That 2080Ti is like 10X more powerful than the 1080Ti when using NVs new RTX OPS measuring system. 10 times!

I’m currently playing Doom 2016 at 25x14 on a lowly Radeon Vega 56 and getting between 150-200FPS. Do you have any idea how much more play able that game would be with if I had a 2080Ti with 10X the RTS OPS (copyright nVidia Corporation 2018 all rights reserved)?!

Up 3% today.

Now we wait for benchmarks.

I'm pretty sure the 2070 is faster than a Titan Xp with Ray Tracing on. Doesn't seem wrong to me.

But what's more interesting is the performance with RT off. IMO then we're talking about 2070 = 1080.

The 2070 vs. Titan Xp claim is undoubtedly only for RTX enabled games (otherwise it would mean that Nvidia has somehow achieved a combined 70% improvement from higher IPC/frequency, which beggars belief).

All in all the performance improvements for the Turing cards versus their respective Pascal predecessors will probably be as follows:

In RTX tech demos (like the storm trooper demo): up to 500% faster (based on Nvidia's 6x claim)
In RTX enabled games: up to 100% faster (based on Nvidia's 2070 vs Titan Xp claim)
In non-RTX enabled games: up to 20% faster (based on CUDA count, clock frequencies, and the conspicuous lack of any general performance claims from Nvidia)

That would be my guess anyway.

Yeah even if the 2070 was rated at 2GHz boost clocks compared to Titan XP at stock clocks, there would still need to be a minimum of 31% IPC improvement. The only time Nvidia achieved anything remotely close to that was with Maxwell in 2014, which was pretty much a one-time event in Nvidia's history.

How about AC Origins? At 4k?

Considering that the only thing Nvidia bothered telling us about this "all new" SM was that it could do variable rate shading (which is only really useful for foveated rendering), I wouldn't get my hopes up for any significant general performance improvements there.

Tried to find the silver lining. 🙁

Because with NVs “customer centric - the way your meant to pay” business practices and the lack of any competition on the high end due to AMDs inability to perform the highend is now $400 more. It’s $400 more for an actual FPS performance increase we don’t know and won’t know until cards are available but not until after everyone preorders.

I’m not surprised their stock is up today they’ve succeeded in raising the price of entry to the high end again.

(In 2009 the absolute single card high end was a $375 HD 5870. In 2018 it’s a $1199 2080Ti FE. The price has gone up 3.2X in 9 years.)

Exactly... So for any real competitive online game, RTX add-ons will be turned off so today's presentation for 99% of us was basically like.. here are three cards, here are the prices, goodbye. We received zero actual performance data.

$599 for a 2070 that performs about the same as a ~$500 GTX 1080?
 
So I wonder if the 2070 Rtx is more powerful than titan xp than the Ti model should be a lot more powerful than 25% compared to the 1080ti.
 
This must be the worst release for Nvidia buyers since the FX series..

Iam waiting for 7nm, be it Navi or Ampere.

1200$ for 14 TFLOPS FP32 on the RTX 2080 TI, when the GTX 1080 Ti is ~12TFLOPS FP32.

Will be years before ray tracing get any traction, if ever, since pretty much 99% of the games are made with consoles as the target hardware. (soon to be Navi)

Truly ridiculous.

It's only more powerful at ray tracing.

I don't think we have any real idea how these perform across normal games yet.
 
I can believe 30-40% increase for the RTX 1070 over GTX 1070, as the bandwidth increases quite a bit(nearly double), in addition to uarch changes.

But against the 1080 Ti, not only it has bandwidth deficiency, it has less than 2/3rds the SMs. So excuse me(and the rest) if I'm skeptical it'll beat the 1080 Ti.

I do have to say, the Ray Tracing demonstrations look quite nice. And it seems some of the current roster of games support it, probably after patching. If the pricing goes down to $499, the RTX 2070 might be a decent card to get.
