Been trying to figure out how I can keep my refresh rate with Counter-strike and Quake 3 with the new nvidia drivers (28.32) and came across something called Nvreffixk, works a treat and if you guys are in the same position as me you should check it out.
The page I got it from is here: http://www.xp-erience.org/article.php?sid=1372
Why do nvidia do this?

Oops :) Wrong article.

So this is a modified set of drivers not something you run separately? The only util. I found that addresses all the refresh problems is PowerStrip but that's something that must be run to work.

No, nvreffix is not a separate drivers release.

It just deletes low-refresh rate modes from your Registry. So it's a simple, harmless fix that works.

The problem is that WXP stupidly switches to 60 Hz refresh for games. There are some convoluted workarounds for Direct3D, but for OpenGL, this is the simplest solution for nVidia hardware.
