I remember you adoring and pushing the GTX 960 models for a very long time.

Do you mean you just use and recommend lower end cards but, don't follow them, or is it convenient to assume this position now?

long story short, there was a guy named Russian Sensation on here screaming at the top of his lungs to buy a 280x and how horrible the 960 2gb was, so I purposely went out and bought a 960 4gb model and overclocked it to 1560 core and proved that the card could game a 1080p just fine.

After playing with overclocking the card and benchmarking it I bought a gtx1070 extreme for 1080p gaming, and gave the 960 to my parents.

I buy what card I want, when I want it ,and as fast I need it.
I've made an adult paycheck for many years.
I'm taking some time away from gaming waiting for some good games worth spending my money on. I'm tired of the same games remade, part 2 , 3, 4, 5 of the same idea. Been waiting 2 years........so far..mabe next year?

Eh, if I remember right the battles were over the 960 4gb vs the deals on the 4gb r9 290 cards that were a mere $20-$40 more expensive.

Next year this time the Nvidia 3060 ,with a full node change to 7nm,

If NV will go with SAMSUNG 7nm EUV, the earliest to have a new card in the market will be at Q4 2020 and that will not be the middle class 3060 but the 3080 or even 3080Ti.

Pretty sure Ampere is being rolled out as datacenter only. No consumer based cards.

According to this article , SAMSUNG 7nm EUV samples are going to NVIDIA late 2019. That means it will take at least another 12 months for a finished product to get in the market (late 2020).

Now, IF NVIDIA will also use the simple 7nm for cards in 2020 is another thing.

It's not a very convicing: die size of predecessor (Exynos 9820) is 127 mm2 and it was made in 8nm.

I suppose, that Exynos 9825 would be even smaller and could be close or relatively close to 100 mm2.
GPUs are usually significantly or simply much bigger than such a small die.

That was one of the worst cards released in the full decade before. The GTX 960 was overpriced, overly slow, and didn't bring anything new to the table. That is why pretty much everyone who was planning on Nvidia mid range went for the GTX 970 even though it was quite more expensive, the GTX 960 was just a garbage product.

So you buying that card proves just how "good" you are at evaluating GPU's. I wouldn't listen to a word you say based purely off of that!

At this point it's a year later, so I can't really rustle my almonds. But fool I am for buying into RTX @$1300 to have nothing to satisfy my new toy.

I was never into Minecraft, but the wife was. If I don't have to buy any upgrade packs, perhaps I'll tinker with it. It won't wash this early adopter taste out of my mouth though, but at this point I'd take any ointment for this rash.

At least we got to enjoy better frame rates. I always assumed the RTX was going to be a waste of time like PhysX was before.
