nvidia RAID 1 rebuilding

I have seen the posts on various messageboards about how rebuilding does not work and you have to delete the partition and reboot. did that. I am rebuilding.

the gui said it could take up to a day. I have like 60GBs to re-mirror. its running. its at like .5% and its been running for 15 minutes.

why is this so slow? I know SATA drives are not Fibre Channel 15,000 RPM SCSI drives, but this is really slow... ?

I don't know about the Nvidia chipsets. On Intel ICH9R, the status of the RAID becomes marked as "degraded." You have to pop in the replacement drive and add it as a member of the RAID, and it should start rebuilding once the O/S is loaded up. The mirror process for a pair of 250gb mirrored drives is under an hour with 10gb of used space.
