One FE, one ACX 3.0

I'm using an EVGA 2-Way/3-Way V2 LED bridge since the new HB bridges aren't available anywhere.

It didn't take much time to get the result comparisons together. It's all within my 3DMark run history.

Here's a comparison link of my setups for the past 4 and 1/2 years. It includes all of the results I posted above plus 4-Way GTX 690s (two cards), 3X 7970s, and 3-Way GTX 580s. As you can see, I go through hardware pretty quickly.

Its bit misleading. There is no doubt Evga´s cooler is much superior to FE´s blower, but in this particular case, the FE has the other card on top of itself, while Evga card has nothing in front of its fans... so the FE is bound to run hotter no matter what. Swap the cards and i doubt those 47 degrees for ACX would stand.

It's already been documented and proven by Jayztwocents that the founders edition cards run +25c hotter, even solo on a open air test bench with no other cards around em.

Even shown in real time in a video how hot they run. And another video for the ACX one running -25c cooler. Both of them tested at different times, solo, in an open air test bench.

What ShintaiDK posted is true, and is nothing new. Just another way of showing it.

Founders Edition running hot and throttling it's self: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXUo1S55ZUM

ACX card: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22ePLtROm6I

End result is the EVGA ACX card is -$50 cheaper than founders edition, runs cooler, quieter, and because it can actually maintain it's boost clock without throttling, runs about +300 mhz faster out of the box.

I dont have mine yet, a friend of mine does however. I can test myself on Tuesday or so.

2 hours of DOOM. 83C, 2400rpm fan, boost stable at 1797Mhz.

All stock.

100% fan gives 1822Mhz boost and temps in the 60 range.

120% power target as well gives 66C, 1835Mhz boost solid in DOOM.

ShintaiDK, you bought a GTX 1080? I always thought you were an AMD die hard fan. Just kidding mate, great purchase. I'm also thinking about getting two but with Vega and GP102 just around the corner, it's a tough decision.

Both numbers would be higher if the cards were reversed. The reference card at the bottom would be probably 60C and the ACX Cooler would probably be hitting 85C+. ACX cards just aren't made to SLI (particularly as the top card) unless its an open bench.

Yep, the obvious block of the next card never made much sense in terms of both CF and SLI. The motherboard slots should at least be spaced with 1, better yet 2 positions in between for air circulation.

That was pretty much point of my post.

Anyway, do you think its possible to fit 2 Evga hybrids into Fractal Design R2 case? I would need to have next to each other, sadly, but given the fact theyre mostly cooled via those radiators, it should perhaps not be as big issue as with 2 air-cooled cards. The thing is, where to put those radiator. I can imagine mounting one on the side of the case, but the second....

How the heck did the NDA on the 1070 expire on a Sunday afternoon?
Amazing numbers, by the way. A killer card, way more impressive than the 1080 in terms of price-performance.

Has anybody looked at the prices today ? newegg is OOS, Amazon is $920 or more for founders edition, and ebay is as high as $1845 with most over $1000 !!!

The 1070 is a dream card for 970 owners. Man what an exciting upgrade that will be. 3.5gb ram vs 8gb and about double the performance.

Waiting for 1080 Strix. And eyeballing a Dell Gsync monitor. Willing to wait 10 days.

To be honest, if the cooler on the FE is same as my GTX780 you really need to adjust the fan profile. This is a 100% must because the default fan profile is optimized for noise and maybe thats why we see the FE cards throttling.

I dont remember the fan curve Im using on the top of my head but because the sound profile is much bearable than most blowers (just whooshing of air, not a whining high pitch tone that most blowers seem to exhibit or a jet taking off) so its set higher as temps get higher. I think the FE cards are capped at 55% which probably is the reason why the GPU down clocks. 55% fan speed on these coolers is too low imo.

Would love to see some testing done by you guys who bought the FE cards.
