NVIDIA Pascal Thread

I can tell you right now that only reference designs will be available at launch (many reasons for that, the most evident being to avoid leaks). However, AIB SKus will shortly follow at Computex.

edit: on a side note, last rumor from European etailers says that GP106 will arrive this summer to counter Polaris 11. That's sooner than many people expected (looking at you AMD) and it makes perfectly sens. Last thing Nvidia want is to let green team regain market share so easily.
Price and positioning will be:
GTX1060: same performance than 970 for 960 price
GTX1070: performance close to 980Ti for 970 price
GTX1080: a bit higher performance than 980Ti for 980 price

Isnt nVIDIA the green team? 😛

Then i am exception to that group, LOL. Cause i am certainly not satisfied with rumored 20 percent over 980Ti. I was definitely not skipping Maxwell waiting for just that. 🙂
GTX1080 (GP104 full die) is supposed to be slightly above 980Ti but we still have no idea about 1080Ti performance. if it will be based on GP102, it should provide a nice bump, at least 40% IMHO

But GP102 is not going to be introduced next week, at least it does not seem to be the case. Its probably 2017 thing, if it even exists. I wish they would bring it on alongside GP104 now, even if in the form of Titan only....but yeah.

Last time you said it was going to launch in april. Keep your hopes as we still have one day in april left.

Ouch, apparently someone's mad that NVIDIA is going full steam ahead with reviews next month and launch with chances of retail availability at Computex, according to the latest rumours.

Looking less and less likely that AMD has a huge advantage to market, at least in the >$300 segment, but keep your hopes up (and your personal attacks to yourself).

Ps: Your claim is total B$.
Only PCR-Online talked 'late April', but they mentioned a May/June launch was much more likely.

You can maybe expect to see something new from Nvidia as early as late April, but most likely in the May or June period

Rumor: Nvidia Pascal launched at Computex, and will go on sale in June
Geforce GTX 1080/1070 can be found in stores within a month!

Nvidia is preparing a press conference in early May, where new Pascal family is detailed faced a sharp launch in time for Computex, then even graphics cards will be on store shelves.

According to sources in the graphics card market is the green camp winner in the first round of next-generation graphics cards. Nvidia reportedly already scheduled a press conference in the United States where at least the international media already received invitations. The press event that will be dedicated to presenting new Nvidia Geforce Pascal family will be held early in May.

Shortly after Nvidia is expected to deliver data and test samples of its new Geforce models to the media to start their testing and evaluations before a sharp launch is said to be laid in time for technology trade fair Computex in Taiwan. The goal is to technology media to have time to complete the tests and reviews before traveling to the fair.

- Partner cards in stores in June
As revealed earlier rumors, Nvidia launched Geforce Pascal with its own reference brief but graphic card manufacturers are said to invest fully in their own custom-made models. Graphics cards with proprietary circuit boards, maffigare cooler and more lavish components will be available in stores just one week after the official launch. It also testified that the video cards are already virtually completed and that manufacturers are now preparing the delivery of their cards to distributors and retailers. Something as indicated by previous leaks where a graphics card with GP104-400 graphics circuit most likely identified come from a customized video card model from MSI.

[...]The sources of NordicHardware point out that the launch of the first Pascal-based GeForce graphics cards primarily focuses on maximizing performance per watt and performance per crown. Within a week, it should show up more detailed information about this while Nvidia is preparing for the full product launch.

According to NordicHardware:
- Press event in early May, detailing the cards (Editor's Day?)
- Sharp launch in time for Computex, with retail availability
- Data and test samples with reviewers shortly after the press event
- Reviews ready in time for Computex
- Custom VGAs available only one week after official launch
- Work on the VGAs is almost done, now preparing delivery to distributors and retailers
- Focus on performance per watt and performance crown

Excited to see NV's mobile lineup. When Kepler was first released, there was such a giant performance/watt leap in Notebooks that I had to buy one. I hope this is the case again.

Posting the same rumour twice does not make it more credible, whatever some sites would like you to believe.

Sorry, just wanted more people to see it. Hate it when it gets stuck in the last posts of a page.

Edit: Fixed, removed the news from last page.

What personal attack? You are now attacking me. Where did I mention amd in my post? Why are you trying to paint me as an aggressor.

It was you who hyped me up for april Pascal launch and I'm waiting for it. Your attack at me and amd was not asked for. Very rude response to my cherish post trying to up the spirit.

Spamming is against the forum rules.

If Qualification silicon was dated for 14th week of 2016 we can expect 3 months from that date to wide market availability. Early July. That is the safest bet for the GPUs to be available.

You assume too much... How do you know that older qualification samples haven't send out before the leaked one ? Maybe this leak comes from an AIB that got their samples later than others...

Latest bit from Chiphell mentions three VGAs again:

1. GTX1080 GP104-400-A1 DDR5X 8G
2. GTX1070 GP104-200-A1 DDR5 8G
3. GTX1060 GP104-150-A1 DDR5 6G

Geforce GTX 1060 packs 6GB GDDR5 (192-bit?).

So much for Raja Koduris infamous ""We believe we're several months ahead" statement. Nvidia is close to launch while we're still waiting for Polaris silicon leaks/pictures.

So, is now a good time to sell the ol' 980 Ti to make way for the 1080 or should a person still wait? I like my 980 Ti, but if I time this right I pretty much upgrade for free or very little, right?

I thought Lisa Su also said they want to stop being the budget brand last year. But Roy Taylor just said they're pretty much trying to be the budget brand and giving up the high-end to Nvidia. I don't get it, can a company's leading figures really be so short-sighted?

Assuming it's true, it means they're harvesting pretty hard, probably due to poor yields.

If one of the memory controllers is defective, but the rest of the chip is fine, there's no point in throwing it away if it can still be sold or serve some purpose.

Well, now I'm stuck in a pickle.

Assuming both rumors have some credence:
Polaris 10 - $299-$350 @ 980 Ti perf
GP104 - $300-400 @ 980 Ti perf

I could probably sell my golden sample 980 Ti W/EVGA Hybrid kit for, perhaps $500-550, if not a little more.

Assuming the above is true, can get two of either or one of each for the GF and me, which would net us most likely similar perf/slight_upgrade with less power draw, updated API support, and probably barely cost me much out of pocket.

But the last time I pre-preemptively sold my cards going on the rumors, I was left with a new card ~30% faster than what I sold off, for the same amount of money (but due to depreciation of the cards I sold, it would have still cost me a big chunk of money out of pocket)

Not that I got any problems being stuck with a watercooled 980 ti and still buying two cards IF the prices above are right. But then I'd have a 980 Ti + 780 Lightning (with the Lightning already promised to my nephews, and personally I don't think they'd appreciate a 980 Ti watercooled, too young still.)

Decisions...decisions...

Yeah I don't get it either. Wonder who wants to buy a Polaris 10 if the performance just isn't there? The R9 290/390 and GTX970/980 users would have no incentive to "upgrade" to Polaris 10, no matter how much more affordable these products would be.
