So people are just paying for early stock or maybe a fancy badge?
If you were to go see the link, and watch his (short) video it would all be explained.
nVidia is offering "their own stock" cards at $700, which will likely be the "middle ground" and let their board partners (MSI, Asus, EVGA, ETC.) sell them at the MSRP of $600 and under-cut nvidia. But nvidia is releasing theirs first and delaying the release from board partners by a couple weeks. And then board partners are free to do anything they want with em. Custom PCB. Overclocks. Fancy coolers, etc. Board partners can not charge below the $600 MSRP, but they can mark it up anywhere between $600 and $700. And then later other board partners may offer "hybrid" cooling solutions or full waterblock'ed editions for "above $700". At least that's what nvidia is thinking based on what happened with 900 series.
