I'll hold off until I can get some info from a reputable source(as in, not The Inq).

Would suck for nVidia if it's true though, the low-mid end is where the money is, they can't afford to lose out in those segments.

The NV30 cards can score in the 4,000 range why would the next gen score less. They probably didnt optimaize settings like most people do when testing.

I would bet that the NV31 will be a DX 8.1 card if these scores are real.

Isn't the GeForce 4 MX a DX7 part? If so, that means that Nvidia is not as religious with their naming convention as some seem to think. If the NV34 is essentially going to be the FX MX, then it's conceivable that it a DX8 card which would make sense of those low scores.

These are not next gen parts. These are the mid and entry level cards, AFAIK.

Next gen only in that they replace the Ti series . . . the "performance" MAINSTREAM card. . . . (ATI competitor: now the 9500 - soon the 9600)

. . . and the replacement for the MX cards . . . the NV34 . . . (ATI competitor: now the 9100 - soon the 9200)

2 Nvidia cards that are yet to be introduced. They were the performance mainstream card NV31, likely to be called Geforce FX 5600, and the NV34 mainstream card with the possible name of Geforce FX 5200

Someone (GT), "correct" me if I'm wrong and/or "add" missing info.

EDITed for clarity and I can't wait for the benchs and reviews. 😀

their brand naming may not be religious but their internal code names have been. the gf4 mx was nv18, pre dx8 part.

first of all NVIDIA is not going to make a new GPU for its low-end line, it uses older GPU's for its low end cards.

look at the geforce 4 mx, it is no more than a geforce 2 pro/deluxe GPU. the geforce 2mx was no more than a geforce 2 pro stripped down.

the NV34 will be the top-of the line card with a slower version of it at the low wnd just like NVIDIA has always done.

look at the history and the facts from the TNT 1 card till the geforce 4 ti4600.

cmon ppl pull your heads out of your asses and look at the facts.

oh and F*CK the Inquirer.
