I've decided that I'm probably gonna get a nForce board, but I wanted to ask those of you who have own nForce boards how the nForce MCP-D compares to a SB Live!
I also wanted to know how well it supports things like A3D, DirectSound, and EAX. I'm a serious gamer so gaming performance is imporant to me. Also, how does the MCP-D CPU usage compare to the SB Live! CPU usage?

Dear crazySaint
the MCP-D do have the ability of DirectSound, 5.1 Surround, A3D and EAX.
For the Processor Usage, compared to SB Live, surprisingly, it came not far apart!

so for the MCP-D chip, i believe the nForce will be worth every penny, especially with the 5.1 support!

but still, you might consider of getting more information about the nForce, seeing that other
consideration such as the overall performance of the nVidia chipset is nothing compared to the Awesome SiS chipsets!

so you might consider buying other boards with SiS chipsets for best performance, and with additional $30 you can add SB live!

No. nForce is on par with KT266A and SiS 735 and 745 both trail KT266A.

Anyway, nForce is a great solution, and I'd highly recommend it. As for the audio, the MCP-D is much better than a SB Live!, but a SB Audigy, I'd have to give the nod to it, but even if you stuck with the MCP-D, that's fine, its great stuff!!! As for CPU Utilization on a XP 1600+, the SB Live! uses as little as 5% or as much as 25% depending on the voices of the CPU, meanwhile MCP-D is at most, 2%. For comparision, the Audigy at worst is at 5% CPU Utilization. Oh and a great article on nForce's On-board stuff (Sound, Video, and IDE) is at X-Bit Labs. Thats where I got those numbers from, and they did a test run with UT, and you'll see there is a FPS performance difference between Live! MCP-D and Audigy
