According to Vanshardware:

In addition to NVIDIA's nForce recently picking up Compaq as an OEM win, our sources say that Compaq is also qualifying an NVIDIA Clawhammer chipset. Technical details of this chipset are not clear, but Compaq systems utilizing NVIDIA core logic are expected to appear in January, 2003.

Meanwhile, more AMD scuttlebutt has it that the chipmaker is to begin wide shipments of Clawhammer samples to component vendors in June, when the first third party core logic is also expected to be ready. According to our sources, while the broadly rumored October Clawhammer release appears to be technically achievable, the actual date has not yet been committed to by marketing.

<< too bad compaq is a lame duck >>

Not really, considering that's one of the reasons HP is buying out Compaq, to let their PC biz expertise strengthen HP's weak PC biz...

<< Hammer Shipments This Summer? >>

heh... everytime i log on here, the hammer is coming out sooner and sooner. maybe the next time i log on, it'll be coming out next week.

besides, vanshardware is full of bias and hardly accurate. i thought we determined that a long time ago. so why even consider that it might be true?

<< vanshardware.....................enough said..................😉 >>

more like too much said.

hi adul!

compaq being bought by hp makes them a lame duck. and if they don't, well, it'll help nvidia i suppose, but compaq is getting hammered by customer uncertainty at the moment.
