The random signal loss while running 3D apps is not what I'd call a rarity.Originally posted by: akugami

And what bugs would those be pray tell? I have multiple systems with NF4 mobos and ATI video cards in my house. None exhibit any bugs caused by ATI.

Does anyone out here have opinions on the pros and cons of using an Nvidia Based Motherboard but using an ATI Video card. I've beenhaving reservations about doing this.
I was looking at an ABit AN8 Ultra with an X-850 XT PCIx Vid.
Thanks in advance.

I've been running a 9800PRO on my NForce 2 ultra since last July and the system has been rock-solid stable through every series of driver.
In fact, I dont recall even hearing about the "random signal loss while running 3D apps" that you speak of. Links?

QFT.
I Have a NF7-S 2.0 and 9800 pro myself, they work fine in tandem.
However, for the record - nVidia cards have been shown to perform a bit better on nForce chipset boards. While ATI cards haven't shown any real difference regardless of the chipset they're running on.

please quantify "a bit"

Look around at benchmarks. I'd say its anywhere between 5-10 FPS on most games. You also have to understand that all the best performing motherboards use the nForce chipset any way. There are only a couple that don't, and they usually don't perform as well. Same with Intel boards, now that they have nForce chipsets, benchmarks have shown nVidia cards run a bit better on those boards versus the Intel chipset boards.
Sorry I can't be more specific then "a bit" - its not outrageous by any means.
