Are you saying it won't even be available for purchase until mid december?

680i from the initial board partners in a week or so, RD600 very shortly, and BadAxe2 in retail by the end of the month, maybe earlier, maybe later. 680i will be supported by just about everyone with rollouts from different suppliers starting sometime after the elections and going into December. 😉

Gary, who else are the initial board partners besides EVGA?

Sorry, I am under NDA for those specifics. 🙁
When is your NDA expires?

Hate to be a bother, but a week from now as in ~G80 launch time? I've got a big decision to make then, as far as whether I should settle for nForce 590 or something of that nature or wait (a few days at the most) for 680i...

Sounds like it. That'll be the official launch time anyway. Wether they'll have enough in the supply chain or not is another question. I'm going with the thought that the first couple weeks will see all these mobos hard to get and probably higher priced than the MSRP.

I'll track the link down, but when DFI canceled their Lanparty 590 board, they stated they were going to concentrate on the 680i and would release december sometime.

*edit* Hmm. I tracked down the link about the DFI board. Seems November was indeed the target date. That's encouraging since it's the only part holding me back from my new system.

DFI 590 Cancelled

I have an NDA for that also. 😀 However, NVIDIA is throwing a huge gaming event on November 8th and since that is right after the elections (as mentioned earlier) I will let you fill in the blanks. 😉

An E6300...in fact I've had my E6400 at 512Mhz FSB on my P5B Deluxe, not stable because of my memory, but it posted and loaded windows.

Oh brother... an NDA that says you can't tell us who is making a board based on a chip? We can just guess and probably be right... Asus, DFI, EVGA, likely MSI, likely Epox. The usual producers of NForce boards.

After reading about the sound issues on my board of choice then learning the intel version of the 570 is just a rebranded NF4. I am going to wait and get a 680 based motherboard for my new system.

I hope supply is available this week and the price isnt through the roof!

I'm hung up over what to get 🙁 i've got an 8-phase/pin compatiable PSU so I figured that the way to go to O/C

The 650i caught my eye bec. i don't need sli/cost concerns..

*chomping at the bit (speaking of bits anyone using the abit AB9 non-pro?)

I am seriously thinking of picking one of the refreshed Core 2 Duos around Feb/Mar 07, with either a 680i mobo, or an Intel mobo. Most likely an Intel mobo, might be less likely to have issues with my X1900XT vid card.

Sweet, so maybe Newegg and the like will have it for less?

I was hoping to keep my motherboard budget well enough below $300, so I was kind of planning on going with a 590 as I expected these to be expensive. Well, in any case, we'll see soon 🙂.

Sweet, but according to the picture it sports DDR2 800 MHz ??? I hope its just a default or something...

Hey vlad, can you check the inside specs?

According to everything I can see, DDR2-800/667/533.

It also states Front Side Bus 1066 and 1333* (*While NVIDIA Technology will provide FSB speeds beyond spec. the processor must also be capable of this speed.)
